Most of us have experienced a job layoff. It is not a pleasant experience for anyone, even if we do not love the conditions of our job. Although this is our daily bread, it is still a frustrating situation that, depending on the circumstances, can even have a great emotional impact on the person. Job dismissal implies a rejection, a signaling and a step towards uncertainty. Rejection because it implies exclusion from the workplace and from what it symbolically represents. Signaling because it implies a negative evaluation of our activity or behavior within the organization. And a move towards uncertainty because, in most cases, there is no other job waiting around the corner.

In that sense, it is undoubtedly a delicate moment. However, we are the ones who work out its meaning, which means that we have a chance that a job layoff will not turn into a trauma or a serious hardship. Finally, life does not end with it, even if it entails enormous difficulties at a given moment. We must manage the situation and prevent it from getting out of hand. Here are some ideas that may help. We must keep calm, although it may seem difficult to assimilate, the truth is that, for one reason or another, we always end up leaving places where we should not be. Sometimes it is difficult to understand at first, but it was probably time to get out of there. Maybe we didn't fit into that organization. This is not necessarily negative.

In fact, it's hard to evaluate everything at the beginning. Therefore, the first thing you should do is to stay calm and not give free rein to those negative ideas that appear after a job layoff. Don't make a movie in your head thinking that a bad patch has started or that the world is going to come down on you. Rather, focus on what needs to be done from here on out. It is true that a period of uncertainty is beginning. The best way to deal with it is to be as organized as possible. First check the state of your finances. You have to cut as many expenses as possible. If you have debts, evaluate if it is necessary to talk to your creditors to establish new conditions. You always can, because it is also in their interest that you can finally pay.

In the same vein, a job layoff forces you to dust off your résumé and renew it. It is a good opportunity to modernize it and give it a more personal touch. Nowadays there are many options. While a new job comes up, which it will, even if not quickly, you can also take advantage of the time to consider a new option: being your own boss. Any skill will do. What you know you can teach. If there are manual skills, you can apply them. The Internet is also a good source of opportunities to make your new business a reality. To start a business you don't need to be an inventor or have a large capital. The essential thing is to research to detect needs that you can cover, you can look at examples of companies that have succeeded.

In conclusion, the important thing is to realize that a layoff is not the end of the world. It is clear that you are being taken out of your comfort zone and, sometimes, generating a series of worries. But if you assume a positive and active attitude, you will surely be able to turn this problem into an opportunity. Life often brings us complicated trials, moments from which it is difficult to get up and return to the routine motivated. A dismissal from work, the death of a family member.  All these adversities are, obviously, negative circumstances that none of us want to live through. Here comes the important nuance reflected in the title: describing something as bad is not the same as describing it as terrible.

Have you ever had to face a job layoff?

Its always a sad thing knowing full well that the job we had put in our best efforts and idea is no longer ours. Some people go to the extent of drinking themself to stupor, some commiting suicide and others into depression. But like you rightly said, losing our job isn't the end of love, we need to try new skills. And also meet with our creditors and beg them for extension and less severe term.. But all the same, we need to stay off the Razer of depression.

First of all thank you for taking the time to read my article and comment. Facing failure is a complicated task and as you say it is very easy to fall into depression, but it is because we always see the negative side of things first. We have to learn to look for the positive side and understand that when one door closes, thousands will open for you. Greetings.
