The decision to live in the countryside has great advantages, but it is not suitable for everyone. At least a decade ago, the idea of living in the countryside began to gain strength. The reasons are many, but the pollution of the big cities, as well as the speed in the pace of life and the stress that this entails, weigh quite a lot. In the first quarter of 2020 it also became clear that living in a rural environment, with low population density, is a great advantage when there are problems such as an epidemic or a war. In such cases, those who bear the brunt are those who live in large housing estates. Precisely this has led in recent months to an increase in the desire of many people to live in the countryside. It is clear that rural environments have many advantages, but it cannot be ignored that they also imply certain limitations.

In fact, not everyone is able to adapt to these environments, so the decision must be very thoughtful. Many people have already stopped dreaming of living in a big city. There are also many who were born and grew up in a huge urbanization and are fed up with it. The number of people who think that living in the countryside is a great option is growing. The reasons are that it is a cleaner and healthier environment. Big cities have gradually become less healthy for humans, largely due to the proliferation of cars. Clean air is a commodity that is increasingly appreciated. They also get cheaper living. Big cities tend to be more expensive, without offering a real plus in return.

Yes, in rural areas the cost of living tends to be lower, even if there are not as many resources available. There are fewer people, better neighborly relations. In big cities almost everyone is anonymous. High densities do not favor human relations; on the contrary, they impoverish them. In the countryside there are stronger bonds of solidarity. We have more space. Housing developments tend to have more expensive land. For the same reason, housing is increasingly smaller and, at the same time, more expensive. In the countryside, the notion of space is different and spaciousness predominates. We get a different rhythm of life. In cities, the mind, the body and life work at a faster pace. Urban life is characterized by speed. In the countryside, the accelerator is slowed down and it is easier to be and remain serene.

In addition, connectivity is making it easier and easier to work remotely, so being away from large urban centers is no longer a problem for many. If there is an Internet connection, you are connected to the world wherever you are. Additionally, a person who is very active may feel somewhat disconcerted in a rural environment. The social life, while more genuine and deeper most of the time, is also lower in volume. Anyone who lives in the countryside should empathize with nature, so if everything seems "buggy" to you, it may not be a good idea to leave the city. Living in a big city has many advantages, but also its drawbacks such as population density, noise, lack of green spaces, pollution.

In conclusion, life in the countryside is much more relaxed and less stressful than in the city, the air is purer and the quality of life improves considerably. The benefits of living in the countryside go beyond the fact of escaping from pollution, rush and noise. In recent years, the trend of young people leaving the villages to go to large urbanizations is reversing or, at least, this exodus is no longer so massive. There are several reasons for this change, such as the economy, for example. However, there are many other factors to take into account. Although each case is different, in general terms, those who are attracted by the idea of living a more leisurely and conscious life, in a more natural environment, agree that there are several benefits of living in the countryside.

Do you prefer the countryside or the city to live in?

I prefer the countryside. I studied , graduated and work in the city for a few years but came back in our province to live simply with my family. I hate traffic and seems endless busyness days in the city.

I understand you perfectly, I in particular do not like the noise of the city at all, I am there only for work, my dream is when I retire to be able to retire to live in the countryside the rest of my days that I have left to live.
