Motivation matters most
It’s common to hear people say to succeed in life you need to discover your talent. They believe talent alone is enough to make a man succeed and when you do something extraordinary they talk about how talented you are.
Talent is indeed needed in life but it’s a fact that it isn’t enough and can never be enough. To start with, talent isn’t something inborn (at least personally I believe that), a boy born into the family of basketballers has more propensity of being a basketballer than a boy born into a family or country where basketball isn’t that popular. The little ball watches it from time to time and rows interest in the sport. From a tender age, he practices and become so good. He goes professional and beats his peer but people start saying he is only doing so well because he is talented while others aren’t.
The tie between happiness, talent, love and Money is something constantly discussed by teachers and guidance. Ask someone why he is doing so well at what he does and see them explain the ties mentioned above. I'm not disputing the fact that the word "Talent" exists and its connotative meaning is right in some ways, but Talent can never be enough to keep one going nor is it enough to guarantee success.
What they say is that when you have a talent, it is easy to secure a job you love and you will surely be happy with the good pay that comes with it. Fallacy!
One of the notable motivations we fail to mention is Appreciation and Money. Though the former isn't as effective as the latter, it also goes a long way in giving one the extra fuel to carry on when things are hard.
Appreciation
It feels great to be appreciated. It makes us feel noticed, and that we matter.
When someone does something great, we should take a moment to appreciate them. It helps motivate them to do more great things. Being appreciated help spur one to even do better than before. No matter how good you are at doing something or how talented you are, when the needed recognition isn't gotten, you get weary and might quit.
My friend Ife said to me earlier today -
"I don't know about you but I love getting appreciated. It might just be a small thing to some people, but to me, it feels great when somebody acknowledges the things I do. It makes me feel like I'm worth something, like my efforts matter".
And that's a great feeling to have, especially when it comes to working on something.
It makes them feel good about themselves. We should also try and do the same for others, not just the people we know, but also strangers. It can make a big difference in their lives.
When the pay isn't good, it's the other ways one is appreciated that will determine if one should stay on the Job.
Monetary gain
Money is very important in the longevity of an individual at an endeavour. So many people come to love what they are doing due to the money involved. Some people go to the extent of learning what seems to be hard before just because of what they will earn from knowing it. When a worker is well paid, he will most likely stay on the Job for long.
The importance of money cannot be overemphasized but when it becomes the main drive it becomes dangerous and consuming.
It's of no surprise to see what we youths are going into nowadays all for the sake of making money. This is so because money is our sole motivator. It is and it can be one of the major motivations but it shouldn't be the only reason why we wake up each day to go about our daily activities.
When some people have financial stability, they're able to focus on other important things in life, like family and relationships, while to some it takes them alway from it. In everything we do, we need to apply moderation.

Sometimes we don't need to be validated to know our worth. As long as you know you are doing your job properly, then it's okay. But yes, we do need some pick-me-up once in a while so we have to show our appreciation to everyone.
