The modern world has seen an eruption in how people communicate with each other. With the advent of social media platforms, internet shopping platforms, mobile app development platforms, voice assistant devices and so on, people can connect in ways never thought possible. The speed at which people can interact with each other is unprecedented.

Have you ever wondered how this world will be without technology? I was with my phone and system switching from one tab to another yesterday all because of the hostel allocation exercise. For over 9 -10 hours my eyes were glued to the screen and also chatting with friends to see if they are lucky enough to get one. This went on for hours without any one of us getting any. A friend even suggested to me that we should create a fake BC, pretending to be the DSA (Dean of student affairs), tell people the exercise has been postponed so they all can stop attempting to get one and we all can log in and get ours.

In the late hours of the day, after several failed attempts, my mind wander away and I imagine being born in a time when there were no phones. Apart from Sundays when I go out with the boys, I spend almost all days of the week on my phone. The holiday has been bearable so far all because I can still keep in contact with my close friends and also work online with my phone. “Life back then must be boring,” I said to me Dad. It was as if I opened the flood gate to a long time discussion. My Dad went on to defend days of old to the present day.

 Genuine communication and friendship

Back when there was no phone, kids gather every day to play and form a great bond. There were different age groups and they have each other back. Ideas were shared and help rendered to each other. He even went as far as saying they form cooperative associations, take turns in building houses for each other and help each other on farms. But nowadays we have nothing life that. Though I disagreed.

Health effect

I find this funny and I asked why. He said his mother could pass a thread through a needle even in her old age and asked me if I can. Ouch! It was a big jab below the belt. Of course, he is exaggerating but he talked about how the use of Gadget has affected our eyes which wasn’t so before.

 Morale decadence

Exposure to the internet has caused o much misbehaviour among our youths and teens. We learn more from the internet more than we even learn from our parents and teachers. What we are exposed to each day is quite alarming. I can remember when I was applying for a scholarship in year 2 and on the site, the ads were that of a betting company and a porn site. I know these companies pay more, but having it advertise on a site intended to be used by students is wrong.

However, the advantages of being born in this generation are also there. there is a lot of useful information on the internet which you can use to learn a lot of things. You can also search for things that will help you to develop your skills. If you want to be relevant in this generation, you need to know how to handle things in modern technology. So what you will do now is to be comfortable using the internet.

In this generation, there are lots of people who are acquiring their skills in making things easier and faster. This helps make your work easy and simple. There are a lot of people who use the internet to share their ideas or knowledge so that other people can learn or get inspired by it. If I'm to choose between being born 100 years ago or now, I will pick Now!

Thanks for Reading!💻💚📲

Thanks for your wishes, prayers and concern guys. The great balloting war was won. After numerous attempts, a friend offered to help and to my amazement she did it. I've been saved from spending extra $450. Since the school hostel cost just $50.

if not for technology for me i don't think this life will be meaningful, let relate it to Gospel, imagine what stress it was for Jesus to go from one country to another then but now yu can stay at a place and still reach millions of people at once and at ease

Ofcourse we've got it better than people 100 years ago. But make no mistake that we've paid for that by losing a lot that for an older generation was what made humans humans. And this culture of learning off the internet, from others sharing their knowledge also has a dark and dangerous dark side. Hardly anyone checks sources and facts anymore. They just put up a youtube video and follow the instructions without question. A lot of times they could be following along with a Bomb construction video and wouldn't even know it until they got plastered all over the walls and ceiling. So yeah, the past is always the worst. We live almost twice as long on average than someone 200 years ago. But don't dismiss the old folks and their gripes offhand. Listen to them even if only to realize how much better things are today or just to let them know we appreciate them and are greatfull for what they've done for us.

If I'm to choose between then and now. I think I will choose now, there are easy skills you can learn online in your comfort zone. Even now you can be schooling from home. Everything is easier than before. You can connect to people easily.
Those betting and porn adverts that pop up the developer can restrict it.

Congratulations that you were able to be allocated a bed space to save you from spending

I'd pick now too. Although I appreciate what must have been the lives of those who came before us, the time we have now is offering us many opportunities they have not been accorded many centuries or even decades ago.

Glad you won your space without additional cost.

I agree, technology has come to take a great part in our life and even today we can't imagine our life without it.

I would pick now over and over again. The internet and technology isn't bad, it all depends on how you wield it. Right now a lot of persons can sit at home and be working without stepping foot outside and they will earn more than people that commute to work everyday all thanks to the internet. In the past, that is would have been impossible to do

I like some parts of technology like crypto and that phones/computers are fast now, but I really hate everyone being on their phones 24/7. I have to tell me friends "no phones!" sometimes when we are hanging out, ugh, seems like everyone does it, especially people my age that are still in school.

I would rather play outside, go hiking, ride my bike etc than sit on my phone all day.

Edit: fixed bad spelling

How will the world be without technology? I can give you an answer: Think about what it was before? Everyone was not looking at their gadgets, spent time outside in the fresh air, talking in person. If they disappear, I think it's not fatal, you can live! Although it will be hard, because you get used to a good thing quickly.

I feel the same way, nobody my age wants to do anything these days and its really sad to me. I like my phone to look stuff up and make calls, etc, but a lot of times I play outsode on a nice day and there is almost nobody around, especially not kids/teenagers.

I even became friends with a new girl at school last year and when I called her she said "actually can we hang up and just text instead?"..that was crazy to me, that people are even scared to talk on the phone. though I do understand it a bit since i have anxiety sometimes.

edit: fixed bad spelling, sorry

I like technology, but I am glad I grew up in a time when there were no cell phones and playing outside was the main fun. And I remember when the first Atari video game console arrived at my house, it was a lot of fun. :)

I love the now with the comfort of technology, but I still love other things from before, when kids still love to play in the backyard, and still knows how to respect ones self and others.

Without technology we cannot advance a millimeter. Today the electricity goes out and we want to die. Before it was lived like this!

You just attended the best school in your life. At least you didn't learn this in a history class. We think our days are more pleasurable than the days of our fathers, but not at all, they had the best of life and enjoy real pleasure with friends much more than than we are having today.

I love 90s TV and board games and stuff, wish I would have grown up then instead of now. Kids at school all sit on their phones all day, and it seems like they are really spoiled too...i actually saw a 13 year old boy cry at school just because he didnt get his way on something, i almost didnt believe my eyes.

I think I prefer the modern day. Now, we're exposed to so many things. But we're exposed to various things. Whatever we subscribe to is what we're exposed to. So I think we should subscribe to things that will add to our live positively

I would also pick now I would say the main difference between now and the old really is the technology. Because the older generation does not have that much technology. They don't have any social media at all..

You wrote very well, dear friend, as you said, the modern age and the advancement of technology have both advantages and disadvantages, you wrote very interesting about them, I think with these interpretations, the advantages and disadvantages are the same, technology brings stress and worry to our lives, too.

"We learn more from the internet more than we even learn from our parents and teachers" This is so true...and kids don't even accept lessons when reprimanded by parents.. Lol..they even shout at their parents and as if they want to be respected more.. Tsk.. Negative effects of technology..

today, lots of kids are now influenced by social media, they even imitate what they've seen online and the worst thing is that kids and teens nowadays no longer have respect for someone who's older than them and they curse a lot, just like my nephew

It came with its pros and cons and will forever be debated. However damaging the disadvantages are you simply can't compare them with the benefits.

Though there are some disadvantages of people using the internet for fraud or some other bad things, I still believe that the internet has done more good than damage.

I really like this. Very true men! Our generation is much better than before. Witnessing how people are engaged to high- technology, we can even work from home. Unlike before, life is so boring, no internet, games, social media platforms and so on. So I also will pick now hehe
