How do you view optimism

Reality is too hard and brutal for a lot of people to bear, when it keep getting harsher and harsher to the point where we feel like breaking, some of us develop coping mechanisms to help us deal with it better, even if that means drowning themselves in illusive thoughts. When things get difficult to bear, rather than bouncing back from the push to the wall, we hope that things will be alright instead of actually doing something about it, creating a false feeling of contentment or happiness because that's what we want to feel at the moment.

While having a good amount of optimism in our mindset is recommended, to survive harsh situations, blinding ourselves to the negative things we can curb while building a facade of optimism is not a good thing, and might even translate as stupid. As people usually say, I kind of disagree with the narrative that says "reality is what we make of it". Reality is stark naked. You see it when you want to and you unsee it when you don't want to, you can avoid reality all you want but unfortunately you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality. It always comes to stare you right in they face before you know that's happening. Truth cannot be denied, it can only be delayed, the hidden that needs to be revealed will always find a way of exposing itself, for the benefit of those to whom it presents itself, if at all they are men of understanding.

We all have tough times in our lives, life is not all bed of roses. Instead of blinding ourselves to the reality of our lives to avoid facing pain, which is an act of cowardice, we should strive instead to face the pain for there's a cure we know nothing of in every pain. Tackle the situation head-on. Do your best and I mean your real best before leaving the rest to God or chance while hoping for am overall rewarding outcome. That's how to be optimistic. That's what optimism and real hope is about. Doing your best and leaving the rest. Even if you fail, you already know that it might come but it won't hurt you as much as it hurts the person who's blinded himself from reality. If we take a good look, reality isn't all that bad, but a necessity so that we may reflect.

Thanks for reading.

I will like to use this opportunity to wish our dear friend @Mafer8866 a happy birthday. God mercies and blessings be upon your life always😁

Yes i agree with all your words, we should face problems, issues with bravery as failures and mistakes teach us the best lessons that we are unable to learn from any other source.

My optimism towards most situations I face in life is one of the reasons why I haven't given up so far. Keeping a positive attitude goes a long way.

Optimism to me is keeping a generally positive attitude towards life despite the challenges that we face. Being able to see the bad or negative side of things but not dwelling on them.

"hoping for the best but expecting the worst" that's one of the lines in the song titled young forever by Mr Hudson and Jay-Z. When I listened to that line many years ago, I have turned it into a major principle in my life and it has always worked well for me. It's good to hope for things to work out well, but it's pure foolishness to think things can never go wrong. In what ever we do, it's always better to also consider that things won't go according to plan, it helps us to reduce the amount of disappointment we will get when it eventually fails. Nothing is certain in life except death, expecting things to always go well with all certainty is foolishness

I look at optimism as the only option that I have, and my dear sister, to be optimistic does not mean that we blind ourselves about negative things at all. Rather, it means that despite the negative things that happen in our lives, we remain bright and optimistic that we will find a solution to it or we will overcome it. An optimistic person knows that the solution exists and does not He gives in to problems, optimism does not mean living in an illusion and turning a blind eye to reality, but rather it means having hope for better days

You know dear, floating bark of wood is also hope of life deep down in the ocean. I don't know but i can just say life without no mean of hope is really hard to live with. What we can do is in our hand, leaving the rest is our hope. May Almighty fulfill everyone wishes.

Yes, a hundred times yes to that last paragraph about facing the reality head on.. I avoided my situation for so many years you know, and I just couldn't take it beause it made me depressed and suicidal,.. and the time I actually faced and addressed it, I found my peace immediately.. It was so wonderful.

Being optimistic is good, but showing cowardliness, boldness is very great in the sense that we just have to stand bold against unpleasant situations and tackle them till we overcome.

This was indeed an inspiring one from you, Bil, being optimistic doesn't mean one should avoid reality... Some people would just do a little; put in little or less effort into doing a particular thing and after that, they get suddenly downcast and they'll be like: "wo, I've tried, I believe if this is actually for me, I'll get it."

You've really hammered on this, one should do the very best, like one's very best before leaving it to God. Happiest birthday to Mafer.

How great you said dear Bilqees. Sometimes reality is too hard and brutal to bear. While having enough amount of optimism is recommended, don't care about negative things is not a good thing too. We must doing our best and leaving the rest to God, while hoping for overall rewarding outcome. Happy birthday to our dear friend Mafer...
