Easy on the gas!
We all know that because of the war between Ukraine and Russia, price of oil has spiked which in turn affected the prices of other commodities especially basic needs like food. However, that is not what I want to talk about.
I meant about taking your foot off the gas or the pedal – meaning taking it easy. I was doing my tasks today when I came across the term “foot off the gas.”
When you drive a car and you want to go faster, your step on the accelerator pedal. Or say on a bicycle, you have to pedal harder to speed up.
Vehicular accidents happen all the time just like the one posted in social media today wherein a vehicle crashed due to over speeding and losing control of the car, killing the driver and one other passenger instantly. The rest of the passengers have been rushed to the hospital. It happened early this morning when the streets are still empty.
In this fast paced life where we want things to be done instantly – fast food, no-cook meals, instant noodles, instant transactions, instant success, instant earnings. Not only in trading do we have fear of missing out but also in real life. We try to compete with others because we want what they have or we want to have what they don’t so we can brag about it. We want to have everything all at once and immediately. We don’t have patience anymore.
Then we complain of being stressed and tired. Naturally. We want everything to be done quickly.
Stop.
So, slow down. Don’t put too much pressure on yourselves all the time. Take a break.
There is no race! You only end up racing to death if you push yourself too much.
Just like the news earlier, when we see that the road is free, we speed up. Until we realize too late that we are going way faster than we ought to be.
Don’t wait for your car, your body, to break down before saying enough. Take time to condition yourselves. Rest. Pamper yourselves. You deserve it.
Because I had time earlier, I visited my family and of course checked out my sister's plants.
This is just one side of the potted plants that my sister grows. These have been accumulated over time.
This is the strawberry lane. My sister said that every day someone would be checking for a fruit that is okay to eat. It could be her or the kids but the kids especially.
I also get to play with our dogs who miss me giving them belly rubs. One of them gave birth to five pups last week. I hope they will all live healthy.
I guess my internet is telling me to full stop. It is during these hours that it slows down.
So time for me to bid you all good night.
I pray my grandma learned it too that everything is not a race so she wouldn't put much pressure on me. 🤧
