A lot of firsts in a day

Last Sunday, we went out for a long walk and I have posted about that here.

It was the first long walk I had this month. We took a new route which we haven't been to before. That's the first time that we walked there. Then we headed to BSU's property and it was my first time there as well.

Ending the day with a first time dining at Gasat Resto.

Restaurants have lined up this road and one of them is Gasat Resto. There used to be only two restaurants namely Marosan's and Susan's Verandah which people frequent. Now there are less than a dozen.

The reason we haven't been to Gasat is because it is far and usually out of the way. We had our chance last Sunday to have a lunch. Gasat is the local word for "luck" or "fate."

This looks like a house turned into a restaurant. The parking area is wide enough to accommodate a few vehicles.

When we arrived, there is not much going on and we were the only customers there until we left.

The ambiance is really nice and pleasant, lots of natural light and they took advantage of the view of the valley. There is an indoor and outdoor seats that you can choose from.

We took our seats by the windows and checked out their menu. They offer rice meals, seafood, vegetables and meat dishes. They have desserts like cakes and hot and cold beverages.

We started off with cakes and coffee.

I originally ordered for sweet potato pie but what arrived was blueberry cheesecake but I didn't mind. I couldn't resist it anyway so I settled for that. My partner had strawberry cheesecake. The cakes are delicious. They are not that sweet which is just right for my taste. Of course the best pair for these are hot black coffee.

It was only a matter of minutes before our order arrived.

We settled for Binagoongang Pork and Sinigang Shrimp and rice.

The Binagoongang Pork was okay although I have tasted better and more delicious dish from other restaurants.

The Sinigang Shrimp was a let down. The shrimps were not fresh and they were overcooked but the vegetables were not, some were not cooked well even which was interesting. Also, I was expecting it to be sour but it lacks that taste.

It was my first time to try here but I wouldn't recommend the two dishes above. There were other options you can choose from.

I would go back here for coffee and cakes again but not so keen about eating a meal there. I love the view though. I can see the strawberry fields and the provincial capitol and Mt. Kalugong and Mt. Yangbew at the other end of the valley.

The price of food is affordable which is the going rate for all the restaurants nearby.

As we exited, I noticed this lone rabbit caged at the corner. I haven't asked the staff if it had company before.

There is also an area outside with little stone seats around a stone table. If it was me, instead of a table, I'd dig a pit for bonfire and have barbecue there.
