Hey folks! We're already at the end of the month therefore it's also time for my compilations of daily devotion. This article may not be interesting for everyone, I respect the customs of religion and I'm also aware that not everyone is interested on a spiritual kind of article. So I'm really grateful for those who takes time to read this kind of article from me and I do hope that God may be glorified through this sharing of His words that I am doing.

Last month, I have shared my devotions about beginning and ends for I was able to finish reading the book of Revelations, which is the last book for the new testament, then I started reading the book of Genesis which is the first book on the old testament.

This month, I am still reading the book of Genesis so allow me to share to you the the stories from this book and my realizations about it.

The Story of Creation

I have already shared this last month but let me share it to you again briefly. I know most of us are already familiar with this story.

It's the story of how God created the whole universe in six days and how he took a rest on the seventh day.

Click this for the full story.

Truly, God made the universe as well as our descendants. Aside from that, what strikes to me in this story is that how God took a rest on the 7th day.

God himself took a break so there's no reason for you not to. We all deserve a break. We all deserve a rest and let's not deprive ourselves with it. Take it easy. Do things one step at a time like how God took His time to create this universe day by day.

You're not in a rush. Take one step at a time and know that every step is a progress. Don't be too hard on yourself, take a rest that you deserve.

Cain and Abel

If you didn't know these two yet, they are the sons of Adam and Eve. Cain was a farmer and Abel was a shepherd. Both of them gave their offerings to God. Cain gave some of the fruits from his farm while Abel gave the fattest portion from some of the firstborn of his flock.

God favored Abel more and that made Cain angry to the point that he murdered his own brother.

Click this for the full story.

God sees through our hearts and He knows what we desire. Cain gave his offerings just for the sake that he can offer something but Abel offered God the best that he can offer. God doesn't look on what we can offer to Him, what He wants to see is our willingness and our desire to offer the best that we can give to Him.

Noah's Ark

This is the time when the world was so wicked, when the people became wicked and it made God regret that He made the earth. He decided to wipe everything off from the face of the earth but God find favor in Noah's life.

He's a righteous and a faithful man. So when God made up His mind to put an end to all people, He instructed Noah to build an ark so that their families can be spared for He have found Him righteous in that generation.

And then Noah do exactly what God said without minding how people think that he's crazy for building an ark for no reason. In the end, God did wiped off the face of the earth by a flood and only Noah and his family survived as well as the every pairs of animals that was on the ark.

I have realized in here that what we need to follow is the Lord. When He told us to do this, we should obey no matter what the people on this world will think about us. After all, God won't tell us to do and won't let us do something that won't be good for us.

Let us live based on the standards of the Lord and not by the standards of this world. It is God whom shall we please, not the people from this world.

God's Promise to Abraham

When Abraham was already 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him and promised that he will make him a father of many nations. But the thing here is that he's already old and his wife, Sarah, was barren.

Seems impossible, right? But Abraham remained faithful to God, followed Him, and he hold on to his promises.

God fulfilled His promises when Sarah conceived a child, and that's when Isaac was born.

Click this for the full story.

This story proves that when God promised, He will fulfill. And there is nothing that is too hard or impossible for God.

This also tells us to just trust God and believe in His promises. It might take time before He fulfills it but let us remain faithful and continue to claim His promises for Him, who promised, is faithful.

Abraham's Faith was Tested

God fulfilled His promise to Abraham and have given Isaac to him. But God tested the faith of Abraham when He asked him to sacrifice his son, Isaac.

It must be so hard for Abraham, he have waited so long to have Isaac but when he already have him, the Lord asked for Isaac to be sacrificed as an offering. But Abraham remained faithful. He does exactly what the Lord says no matter how hard it is for him as a father.

It reminds me that we hold no possession of anything in this world. All came from God and all belongs to Him. What we have is something temporary and let us be prepared to give everything to Him if He asks for it.

This also made me realize that we should remain faithful when God put us in trials. Because that's the time when we are being tested and we should past that test.

God tested Abraham and he passed. And in the end, God didn't took away Isaac. That's how good He is. He won't actually take things from us, He's just simply testing us. What we should do is to strengthen our faith and just obey on whatever He will said.

Esau and Jacob

Esau and Jacob are the twins of Isaac. Esau, the firstborn, was favored by his father while Jacob was favored by his mother, Rebekah.

Both of them grew up opposite with each other. Esau was a hunter and a brash man while Jacob stays at home and is also soft spoken. One day, Esau went home so hungry that he sold his birthright to Jacob in exchange for a bowl of soup.

One day, when Isaac is already old and blind, he was supposed to give his blessings to Esau but Jacob deceived him by introducing himself as Esau so he received the blessing instead. When Esau discovered it, it's already too late. Isaac can't take back the blessing.

After that, Jacob went away because of the fear for his brother but 20 years after, he came back and Esau welcomed him with open arms.

Click this for the full story.

Jacob must have started with a wrong foot yet God blessed him. Same for us, just because we are sinners it doesn't mean that we are not worthy of God's blessings.

Come to Him in prayer, repent for your sins, ask for forgiveness. He's a very forgiving God. We just have to come for him in repentance and submit our lives to Him, and He will definitely forgive us.

He will welcome us with open arms, just like how Esau welcomed Jacob when he came back to their land.

Right now, I'm still not yet done with the book of Genesis and there are still lots of stories to tell like the story about Joseph the dreamer. I might share those stories next month once I'm done with it.

The above stories might already be familiar to you but there's still a lot to learn from it even though we know it already. It's because every time that we will read the bible, it is possible that we can have different impression about it compared to last time.

Anyway, what I shared above are my own views about it so feel free to share your own interpretations, views and opinions on the comment section below. :)

Heaven and earth will pass away, but the word of God will never pass away. It is just so amazing how God spend His precious time to create the world and all the living things in it. What flatters my heart the most is the moment when He created the man and says "it is good".

Those Bible stories are really stories that never grow old and I would really love to hear since I was young. I know Jesus as my Personal Savior in the year 1998. Thanks for sharing this one here, such a blessing!

Never gets old, yeah. Praise God po! Honestly, before, I only know those stories from the TV and from the Sunday School. This is actually the first time I have read about it. And it really hits differently when you're the one reading it.
