"Isn't it painful? Are you sure this thing will fit inside?"
"I believe your *pechay* will become loose if you wear this on a regular basis."
These were the most common phrases I heard when discussing the use of a menstrual cup. Okay, ladies, this article is all about down there while having your period, so if I start saying some words that you don't like, you are free to leave this article, but if you are interested in learning more about this, I will be happy to help you and share some reviews about it.
Okay, let's talk about Menstrual Cup.
It is a reusable feminine hygiene product that commonly use everytime that you will be having your monthly period. It's a tiny, flexible funnel-shaped cup made of rubber or silicone that you insert into your vagina to catch and collect period fluid. Cups can hold more blood than other strategies, so many women prefer them than tampons because they are more environmentally friendly. You can wear a cup for up to 12 hours, depending on your flow.
So, first and foremost, I had some second thoughts about using this type of hygiene product because you have to insert it into your vagina. To be honest, I am not a fan of any tampon products, so I never know how it feels. Going back to the menstrual cup, as I previously stated, I was hesitant to check it out on my Shopee App because I wasn't sure if I could easily put it on, if I could handle the pain, or what.
Before I checked out the item, I first looked up strategies or ways to put it inside on YouTube and Tiktok. After doing some research, I decided to place my order and buy it. Viva cup is the brand I chose, and it comes with two small and two large silicon menstrual cups.
It arrived immediately, and fortunately, I had my period on the day it was delivered. I decided to put it on after inspecting the product and reading the manual. So the first thing I did was clean the silicon cup, then soak it in hot water for one minute before preparing myself in the bathroom. And because I could tell the large cup was too big for me, I started with the smaller one.
At first attempt, I really had a hard time putting the menstrual cup because that was my very first time to you know, (kalikutin ang kamyas kumbaga, charot). So yeah, I could tell how really hard it is to put it on. I think I was in the bathroom for 30 minutes or more just because of that. But after some several attempts, I suddenly felt that something popped inside. That indicates that the menstrual cup is on the right position to be exact. Actually I don't know how to explain the feeling but for me, it was like something just popped but it was not painful.. NOT REALLY. The pain I felt was tolerable. So at the first cycle of my menstruation which takes for about 3 to 4 days every month, I use the cup for only 3 days because honestly, it actually gets all the blood inside, even the blood clots. Yikes! And every time that I will remove the cup, it was a super refreshing feeling. (kapag nakita mong punong-puno ng dugo yung menstrual cup, feeling mo talaga ang linis mo na sa loob)
So ladies, just to inform you, I've been using this menstrual cup for about four months, I think. And to be honest, my cycle became normal. Menstrual cups are eco friendly, and when properly inserted, the menstrual cup forms a seal, greatly reducing the chance of a leak. Furthermore, menstrual cups can be worn for up to 10 to 12 hours, whereas tampons can be worn for up to eight hours only and there's a chance of leaks.
If ever that you are having some second thoughts about the use of this thing, well, this is the sign girl. There are lots of benefits as well in terms of using this kind of menstrual hygiene and believe me, once you try it you will regret the times that you are having some hesitations.
