Love is the greatest

If you were asked to mention the most popular person to have lived on earth, what name would come to your mind? Well, for me, it would be "Jesus Christ."

The reason for my answer is that; there is almost no part of the world is name hasn't been heard or talked about.

Christianity is the religion with the highest population, and next to it is Islam. Both religions have a combined population of over 4 billion, meaning more than half of the world's population belong to either of the two religion, and both religions reference him(Jesus Christ).

The life of Jesus and his preaching are documented in the Bible's New Testament.

Not only do I find him to be the most popular person to ever graze the surface of the earth; but I do believe that he is also the wisest.

King Solomon has always been similized to wisdom, we can see a glimpse of this in the book of Proverbs written by him. But the wisdom and instructions given by King Solomon and other prophets in the old testament were summarized into two golden rules by Jesus Christ. They are;

  1. Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

  2. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Those two commandments summarized all the rules and commandments given by the prophets of old. The ten commandments and other commandments have been mentioned in the two rules Jesus gave.

When you love God you would keep to all the commandments that He has given before through the Prophets of old, commandments like; 'Don't steal, don't lie, etc...

When you also love your neighbor as you love yourself, you wouldn't want to harm or steal or do something that you might not like to be done to you to your neighbor.

Some people would ask;

"what about people that hurt themselves", does that give them the license to hurt others?

My answer would be;

"no sane person would want to hurt himself or herself."

Anybody who wants to hurt himself or herself isn't in the right state of mind.

Why love?

I have seen many people or religions emphasize other qualities. Some talk about Peace, some about Hope, and so on. But the teachings of Christ are based on one quality and it is love.

No matter how much you preach peace in a home or country. If there is no love between the parties involved, there can't be peace.

This is why no matter the peace treaty we make on earth war never ceases and the reason for that is a lack of love.

Government and institutions place too much attention on maintaining peace, and little emphasis on making people love themselves.

Without love whatever qualities you preach won't exist; faith, hope, name it. That is why Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians vs 13;

"And now abide faith, hope, love, these there but the greatest of these is love."

Peace would only come to this world only when we start treating every human equally regardless of his or her race or religion.

All these come with love, when you love humanity you won't lift guns against another person, or deny a person the same benefits you are enjoying.

Let's preach love.

The strong connection with the most loving name like Jesus Christ or Muhammad (PBUH) gives us inner strength to fight against the Satan and evilness. Our love to them is source of mercies upon us.

Love covers all. If everyone on earth exhibit genuine love, the world would be a peaceful space.

But love and hatred are like 5&6, it's been like this from the time of creation and I don't the world will ever change

Love is the greatest indeed! Jesus teh Son of God won't die on the cross if not for love for the whole world. I/we won't be forgiven for our sins if not for His love. We are so blessed that God loves us all

Love is the greatest weapon. Jesus said love your neighbor as you love yourself, whereas humanity is the nest religion, so practice how to love someone and you will make it far

Love the Lord your God as well as your neighbor. You can't say you love God without showing love to your neighbor. They both go hand in hand

Love exists in all forms. From agape to romantic feelings and platonic friendships, you don't need to look far to experience its power. Different people/groups have their own definitions. To some, love is considered the mother of all virtues (literally). Others believe that true love comes from God. Whatever your definition or belief love is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

I agree with you my friend. Love is the greatest commandment of all.
If we allow love to reign in this world, peace will reign excellently.

I very much agree with you. Love is the greatest of all.
If we allow love to reign in this country and the world in general, we will all sleep without closing our doors at night except for mosquitoes.
