12th September 2021 1524

Happy weekend to all you awesome and wonderful readers. I hope you are having an awesome day. We had rain on Friday and also overnight. However, on Saturday morning over my second coffee, the rain stopped and the sun came out briefly.

So, I decided to have a little walk.

I packed up the animal food and toddled off to the park.

However, I discovered there was some fun run going on in the Park and they were running or more accurately most of them were walking past the lake. I could not see the swans, and only saw a few ducks, none of which were Dafty, all that was there were seagulls, seagulls and more seagulls. They really are a nuisance and have been known to attack people, so I refused to feed them, and went off in search of Sammy the squirrel.

Could not find him either or Velma the vole for that matter.

So I had my piece in the park.

My cheese piece

As you can see it was a cheese sandwich which I had made in a hurry, but look at the leaves, summer is over na and autumn is on its way. The wildflowers are turning to weeds, unfortunately.

I did have an awesome surprise as I fed the tree to the right with some birdfood and guess who showed up? I also fed the tree behind me with birdfood.

Molly and Martin magpie

It was Molly and Martin the magpies! They had a great time and were singing away. The next thing I turned round and saw another cousin of Sammy, I called him Stuart.

If you look you can see the birdseed amongst the leaves, it has nuts in it, so the squirrels got mad for it.

I left him alone and decided to go a different trail in the woods.

We are slap bang in the middle of mushroom season, so I went exploring to see what I could find!

The colours are so vivid and the lighting is just perfect, if you know me then you know I am not of fan of editing and filters, so all these pictures are raw, unedited and straight from my phone camera.

Smurf village or a witch's hideout?

These are awesome pictures, and whilst I thought it was a hideout of the naughty witch and her friends, some think it is a Smurf village. Either way, they are great pictures.

This was a different route in the woods I took and it is close to a burn (what we call a large stream in Scotland) and so was damp as you can see with all the moss on the trees and logs, hence all the different types of mushrooms growing.

It was also beside a little set of waterfalls, which were soothing with the water cascading down.

A little bit of water features.

I took loads of different mushroom pictures and I won't bore you with anymore of them here. I am also sure I did find one edible type, I will do more research to see if it is what I thought it was, but I didn't pick any!

My favourite fruit is a raspberry, I didn't find any but I did find some blackberries which I duly picked.

Now do you remember the title of this article?

Do you think I am cuckoo?

Cuckoo means mad, a little bit crazy, which of course I am, but the reason I added it is here in the picture below.

Do you know what that plant is? I had no idea, so had to check google lens and found out that it is Cuckoo-pint or Arum maculatum also called lords-and-ladies and it is a tuberous herb, but the red berries are very toxic. So of course I did not touch it.

I kept on exploring and then made my way home a wee while later and had an afternoon nap after watching the famous mighty Rangers win at football!

It is really amazing what is on your doorstep, if you just take the time to look at things you would not normally look at, you are sure to learn something new every day.

This was my yesterday and is also my entry to writing prompt number 12, which is Fruits of Labor.

i saw one video in instagram where the gull grabbed someone's sandwich hahaha it was hilarious and I felt sorry for the guy.. but I was amazed at the gull's gliding and grabbing accuracy hahaha...

saw another cousin of Sammy, I called him Stuart.

Delicious looking fruits of labor. It's a beef stew for us with lots of mushrooms, quail eggs and some veggies.

It's a rainy weekend. It's better today although it's still gloomy. I was planning on going out for a walk too but decided against it. Maybe tomorrow lol!

Seems like the animals are not keen to be up and about :D

Beed stew that sounds delicious, here quail eggs are not that common and very expensive. I do like to eat quail though, when I can find it! Don't over do your knee.

Yes some of them were hiding, well hopefully I will see them sometime this week kuya.

Omg so cute! I love it when the animals are free to explore the area hehe it means they don’t find anything that is risky or dangerous to their existence. Also, that you are getting those goodies (fruits) from nature all from a random walk at the park!

The goodies are great, it is karma, I feed the animals and nature gives me back free goodies, plus seeing the animals free and having fun is just awesome.

That's a smurf kingdom for youu. You have a wonderful exploration there teng and I actually love the way you narrate it. Two questions there, do you have a Filipino blood? And how can you distinguish animals, from who is who?

$ 0.02

hehe oo, it was a smurf kingdom I found in a couple of places. Two answers, nope no Filipino blood whatsoever, my grandfather was born in China when my great-grandfather was a British Ambassador, so that is the only Asian blood I have. Actually when I worked in Africa I had two Filipino housekeepers and I loved the people since then. Secondly actually it is easy. I know where their territories are, and if you actually look at them, you can see differences in size, colour and markings.

Thank you for telling it to me and I'm sorry for mistakenly you as half filipino I just got curious because on your previous Article I think I'm reading some filipino words. Well then now I'm aware. I think I should go outside and be with nature too, I can't even distinguish which cat is cat when they have the same colors. Now I'll take note on what you said once again thank you Teng!

hehe I love to practice my filipino words, it is fun to learn new languages, well try to learn is more accurate, and you don't ever need to apologise to me! Yes look at their eyes and tails, you will be surprised once you start to look, you will notice differences, just like there are in us humans:)

I wish I could be as smart as you, I can't even speak using my mother's dialect lol. Humans doesn't have tails (yeah my humor is the worst,) I'll gonna try my best to name every animal I'm going to see hahaha. Thank youuu
