In the vastness of the void evening sky on the 11th day of the month of April year 2000, the rain slowly dashes down the windshield of the taxicab driven by a panicking driver due to the commotion happening inside the vehicle. A middle-aged woman was enduring the pain of labor with her sister by her side who was providing the gentlest assistance she could ever offer. Everyone was hysterical when a strong, bright, and deafening lightning struck the tree beside the road as they passed by. From that very moment, they partially assumed already that the about to be born child would have the attitude of lightning--strong, resistant, and hard-headed kid. And I guess, their predictions are true after all. LOL.
Today, this frustrated writer is celebrating her twenty-second birthday. The above paragraph just describes the scene when her mom was about to deliver her into this beautiful yet chaotic world. According to the woman whom she adored the most, it was one of the most painful yet breathtaking moments in her entire life. The moment her youngest was born.
In this article, I’ll be sharing with you the twenty-two lessons that I have learned from living on this planet in my 22 years of existence. Without further ado, let’s start this right away!

1. Thou shall not compare. As I grow older, I have realized how much energy this attitude has consumed in my life. It doesn’t just make me feel bad but also shortens my life because of the constant stress that I feel every time I do it.
2. Focus on your system than your goals. Goals might ignite that fire within you, but the process will help you maintain that fire within you.
3. You cannot serve to masters at the same time. You aren’t a robot, doing two things at the same time is impossible. I mean, maybe you can, but don’t expect about its quality.
4. Losing friends is normal. You aren’t growing if you are not losing friends.
5. Choose your circle wisely. Tell me who your companions are, and I will totally tell you who you are.
6. Blood is no longer thicker than water. Don’t give all of your trust to anyone but God. Even your so-called family can betray you.
7. You aren’t alone in every battle you face. Literally not. Some people are even experiencing more difficulties than you do.
8. Invest your time wisely. You can never turn back time. It’s either you make it your bestfriend or your enemy.
9. Find ways to multiply money. Money can’t buy us happiness, but it can make our lives pleasant to live.
10. Invest in yourself. This is the greatest investment you could ever have.
11. Do not stop learning. Life offers a lot of things and learning doesn’t stop the moment you finish your study.
12. Explore. You only live once. Don’t be afraid to explore and try new things, it’s where you grow.
13. Enjoy life but don’t destroy your future. There is a big difference between enjoying your younger years from destroying your future self. Know your limitations.
14. Take a risk. It’s better to fail once than to regret it forever.
15. Accept criticism. Don’t take everything negatively, learn to view the positive side of every criticism.
16. Date when you are holistically ready. This might be impossible but as much as possible, date only when you know in yourself that you can handle it without bothering other people whenever you commit a mistake. You know what I mean.
17. Love yourself. Spoil and pamper it. Don’t be too harsh with yourself.
18. Have a healthy lifestyle. What we eat now will totally reflect when we reach our 40s.
19. Fake it until you make it. There will be moments when you have no choice but to fake everything.
20. Do it scared. Growth doesn’t take place in our comfort zone. If you have to do it with shaking hands, then do it.
21. Happiness is created. You can’t find it from other people, it resides within you.
22. Kung di parin, bawi nalang next life.
