Trusting the Process. Fictional story
“Let your life reflect the faith you have in God. Fear nothing and pray about everything. Be strong, trust God's word, and trust the process.”
Last night, I was lying on my bed when I got an inspiration from the Hive Open Mic's theme for the week “Trusting the process” and I got this story to make out of it. I hope you enjoy it.
She wants everything to herself but she isn't ready to work for it. She found so many people succeeding and enjoying their harvest, but all she could do is to sit on her bamboo chair and wallow in self-pity, thinking she wasn't made for the best. Who told her that?
Hannah lost her parents at a young age, and all she was left with was the small hut she had lived in with her parents. Now that they are no more, wouldn't she step outside? She had read many stories and books about stepping out of your comfort zone but it seems the more she tried to, the more fears gripped her.
She knows no one but she has allowed the fear took hold of her. She allowed the fear to win the battle and she isn't coming out of it anytime soon. She keeps begging for food from nearby neighbours and friends, but won't they get tired of her one day? It's better to protect your value than to make people take advantage of you.
Hannah, step out! said one of her friends who had pitied her condition ever since she became a lonely girl in the hut. She has no relatives to run to because she wasn't allowed to see them when her parents were alive. This is why it is not good to keep your children away from relatives because no one knows tomorrow. Now that they are dead, no relative came for her.
After a few months, she found a connection that led her to the city to help a rich family. She was interviewed and tested, and they found out she was qualified for the role of a maid who could do anything in the house.
Her work is to sweep the whole house, wash the dishes and clothes, and watch over the two kids when they return from school. That was the only work meant for her. Thank God the couple weren't harsh but took her as their daughter after listening to the story of her life.
She was given a big room where she could sleep and enjoy her time once she is done with her chores. Hannah became their favourite in no time because of her hard work. She knew what she wanted and so, she never allowed her past to define her anymore as she was sure of hitting it big through her employers.
The couple leaves home as early as 6 am after they must have gotten the kids ready for school. Hannah will only make sure they go with the school bus when it arrives by 7 am. There was not much work for her and she enjoyed her life like a normal child and not as a maid.
Be free here Hannah. Don't act like a maid because you are part of this family already. Said the wife one evening. She called Hannah to discuss the issue of enrolling her in school. This means her dream is coming to pass gradually as she kept trusting the process. She was excited hearing such news as she knelt to thank Madam.
With Joy in her heart, she ran inside to bring a cup of juice as instructed by Madam. She smiled at the kids while she gave them pecks on their cheeks. Her joy knew no bounds.
After many years, Hannah graduated from the University with a first class in Business Administration. Two years later, she got a scholarship for her masters in Europe. The couple had a relative over there as they discussed that Hannah should stay with them for her program.
Her dream of becoming the CEO of her company is coming into existence after a year of completing her masters abroad. She returned to Nigeria to meet the people who gave her a brand new life after her parents' death.
Some months later, she got married to Kelvin and they both were handling her dream company.
One day, she was called upon on a TV show where she boldly wrote an inscription and showed it to everyone.
This is my story... Trust the process and lean on God always.
Thanks for your time
