I know many of us have been to the market before and I want to believe some would always visit the market at least twice or thrice a week and to those who love visiting the market once in a while, you are trying, at least I am in that category since I love buying everything in bulk and wouldn't want to go out until I am out of stuff in the house. Besides, I don't like going to the market oftentimes.

The market is always large with many women and men bringing their items to sell for people to buy and there are spaces for every individual to sell their stuff and materials. With these spaces, there are ways through which one must pass through to get to a particular seller. In short, it is not possible to have just one way leading to different areas in the market. In a big market, one needs to be careful and observant to know all ways in the market.

If you are the one that loves going to the market, knowing different roads in the market won't be difficult for you because you are used to passing each way to get what you want. For someone like me, I need to go with someone who knows every crook and corner of the market and I would be shocked to see how each road leads to a different stand where you need to buy your stuff. One market, different ways.

Two weeks ago, I went to the market to get something and I kept searching for what I needed until I got to another road in the market, I started asking for directions to get to the main road as I got confused and was even thinking I was lost. I couldn't turn back because I had walked many miles. I kept asking for directions until I got to the main road. If I had known every corner of the market, I wouldn't even be lost or got confused. But here we have some people who are very good at each corner or road of the market and they would keep going without missing their way and before you know it, they are out of there.

The minute someone used to get everything in the market even going through different corners, another person will use hours (not exaggerating) to get everything he or she needs. What is the difference? The first person already mastered all areas in the market because they have been used to going to the market all the time.

MARKET CORNERS CAN BE LIKENED TO DIFFERENT STREAMS OF INCOME

Just like a market that has different corners, routes or ways to get all you want, so also is your source of income.

Let's take the market as a place to represent our source of income.

Many of us, if not all have different sources of income which generate money for us. It is not possible to have just one source of income when you can easily have multiple streams of income.

Do not put all your eggs in one basket because when the basket eventually starts to leak or got torn, all your eggs would break and that is the end and there wouldn't be another alternative.

Let's say you went to the market to purchase your items, going through one way and you notice something is happening that could endanger you. Different people were running around the market to save themselves but the road you only know has been filled with people who are waiting to get hold of you, that would be the end because you do not know any other road to pass through. Even in the process of running with others, you might miss your road and would be difficult to know your way.

Same thing with our sources of income. What if the only source of income you rely on suddenly ends, would there be an alternative for you when you don't have another?

One of the ways to have another source of income is to study and understand its process very well by being consistent in learning.

You need to know another route in the market, you have to keep going and taking notes even when someone is leading you so that when next you go to the market, it won't be difficult to go down the road.

Meet with people who understand what you are going into, make them teach you and keep observing how things are done so that when you are on your own, there won't be confusion.

Do not rely on a route in the market because of some unexpected circumstances as you would be able to get through even if something happens. Same thing with your source of income. Do not focus only on one source of income because no one can predict what could happen the next minute.

Even as an individual who has a 9-5 job, you shouldn't rely on it but have alternatives except if the organization is run by you. It is important to have other side jobs you will fall back on even if the unexpected happens. No one can predict.

I have seen an employee who was sacked for not committing any crime or error, just because the company was going through a crisis that needs every staff to be stopped until further notice. How do you expect such people to survive when they don't have any other work they do? It will be so difficult to cope and survive.

We have those who work for the government and aren't paid salaries for many months. These kinds of people would find it so hard to feed themselves when all their lives have been dependent on the job. There is a need to have a side hustle. There are different ways to get that online and this would save you from going through a crisis even when the company or government are going through a crisis.

Spread your eggs in different baskets.
