Let us continue with that tiring but with awesome scenery of a trek in Luang Prabang.
Have you ever felt tricked as a non-local?
We did. .. and did not. Haha.
But it was worth it anyway. Crazy as it sounds I think it was also just due to our heightened excitement and LOR - Lack of Research . Or maybe it was our impatience and excitement in wanting to go to that place we were wanting to go to.
Full and rested, we continued walking on the long road ahead.
On this part of the trek, the road becomes slightly inclined. Just slightly. But still even though it is sunny and the walk was long, we did not sweat at all. It was cold. I was elated when we finally got through some gate and then a sign was there. But our journey does not end there.
From here on, we had to go "down" to the viewing point. It is a little trickier than on the way up. Just a little. And yes the grumpy me started to show again. Step over some rock. Hold on to something so as not to slip. Go one leg over the other to get over a log on the way.
You best be visiting my awesome sponsors!! They have awesome stories to tell!
But then the way down is not all that bad either. We were following a path well stomped on by other visitors already. It goes through a beautiful natural setup. And has changing sceneries that it is hard to stay grumpy at all. There was a fun wooden bridge we have to cross. Seeing one foreigner using the roots for a swing. I cannot imagine how he got there. He looks dry. Then going a little closer to the part where the water drops except that we cannot go closer. It has a barrier for safety of course.
By now, we can hear the crashing of the water from a high point. We were getting excited except I'm a notch lower than their excitement I think. I was still consoling my self from the trek. No worries we were laughing a bit about it then as well.
Taking in the Treat
After a while, we find ourselves in the main viewing deck and the view was super stunning. The part where you suddenly do not know how to capture the scene so you have landscape, portrait, zoomed in, and all other probable shots one can make. Thank God we are no longer using film.
We lingered longer on the bridge as we take tons of shots taking turns with the other tourists. This falls though does not stop there. From here and behind us, the water cascades down some more little basins and pools of clear jade water. This is similar to what we have in Abra - Kaparkan Falls.
The tour includes a chance to swim in the water. There is a designated area for that where current is probably less and the pool not too deep.
Feeling the Trick
What was surprising was when we were on the bridge, and we were enjoying the view and whooping at how that trek resulted to this view, we saw one tourist who was, get this, in a wheelchair.
And we were like, how in the world did he get through the trek? And this is where the guide goes, "Oh, you can take a van, a bus, a toktok , going here."
And we were like, "What?".
We went down to follow the concrete steps and road to the place where it is safe to swim. Walking down where there is a small table we can stash our stuff, they prepared to swim in the cold water. We also made sure we were near the changing area. The water is cold, getting out of it, you will also feel cold.
And true enough there was a concrete, established parking lot where tourists and visitors can just park there, get off and walk a few steps and voila, the view!
Then we figured, what we booked from was an "adventure" promoting tourist office. It was the one near the place we stayed in and when we were discussing the options going to Kuang Si Falls, of course they only opened the options where their service is available. Hehe. Smart.
It was a delightful trick or a delightful treat, I still can't decide but I can zero in on it being SIMPLY DELIGHTFUL. And somehow I did like how we went about it.
Thank you so much for reading through!
Hope you are having a delightful weekend - safe and sound at home. On the other hand, praying still for healing for people battling with sickness in this uncertain times.

It was a good hike, enjoying the scenery, you wouldn't have enjoyed it by car. The photos were very beautiful, I liked those waterfalls.
