Wins day Wednesday
My Wednesday started as early as 4 a.m. I have a prior appointment with my doctor today, so I have to play on my Pegaxy account so that the energy won't pile up. I started playing right away and finished in almost an hour. I almost fell asleep while playing. It's a good thing my kittens were beside me, keeping me company. I prepared our breakfast at 6, and we just had coffee, bread, and pancit canton. While we were eating, my husband told me that we should consult another doctor. It was very sudden, and I asked him why. He said that we should ask for a second opinion. I agreed with him, and so we talked about going to Saint Anthony Hospital early. We went there at 8:30 a.m., and when I went to the OPD department, one of the nurses told me that I should ask for an appointment before going there. She gave me the doctor's number. After that, my husband and I went to the market to buy our food. My appointment with my current doctor is at 11 a.m., so I still have time to prepare for our lunch.
After preparing our lunch, I sent a text message to the doctor's number, and it did not take a while before I received a response. She said that the earliest dates available for check-ups are March 8 at Emmanuel Hospital OPD and March 14 at Saint Anthony Hospital OPD. I chose the first one. She asked if I was fully vaccinated, and I said yes. After that, she confirmed my check-up on March 8.
I am relieved that I was able to secure a slot because it is difficult to schedule an appointment with a specialist these days, especially in our city where we only have three neurologists. Now, I'll have to be ready on Tuesday, March 8 for the said appointment. I hope that after consulting with that doctor next week, I will come up with a wise decision on which doctor to choose because my health is more important. I am worried about the thought that maybe my doctor will know that I am seeking a second opinion, and I know for sure that most likely, they will probably know each other in their field. Well, as his patient, I am entitled to it, right? When I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, he told me not to look for another doctor and to stay in his care. Isn't it odd? Mostly, doctors would tell you to seek a second opinion, but he did the opposite. I thought maybe he was excited at that time because, according to him, I was his first patient ever to have Myasthenia Gravis. Well, let's see what happens next after my consultation next week.
So after we had lunch, my husband went to see my doctor for a follow-up check-up. He asked me a few questions and even checked my breathing. He said that my lungs are fine and that my breathing is normal. We then talked about the possibility of Thymoma in my thymus gland, so he asked me to have a CT scan as soon as possible. I told him that I was still saving money for it. Then we talked about thymectomy.
Thymectomy, the surgical removal of the thymus gland (which often is abnormal in individuals with myasthenia gravis), reduces symptoms in some individuals without thymoma andΒ may cure some people, possibly by re-balancing the immune system. Thymectomy is recommended for individuals with thymoma.
I asked him about how much it cost to undergo thymectomy surgery. He told me that it would cost me around 200-250 thousand pesos. My jaw dropped right away. Oh my gosh, where in the hand of God will I get that huge amount? Then he said that there is still a possibility that I don't have a thymoma in my thymus gland, which is why he told me that a CT scan is needed ASAP.Β I wish that I could accumulate that 20 thousand pesos as soon as possible. I also hope that BCH and Vis will continue to move upward.
