Effects of positivity!
Date: Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022
Hello Everyone, Happy Tuesday to you all, and welcome to the second day of the new week, I hope you had a nice rest.
Today is the 22nd day of the month, meaning we only have nine days left till we enter a new month.
Some of us may be feelings negative about this because we haven’t achieved everything we had planned for the month.
The truth is thinking negatively will never help you to achieve what you want, instead it will draw you back even more because it leads you to procrastination.
It is said that having negative thoughts, feelings or attitudes may affect your health especially when you try to repress them.
Negative attitudes and feelings create chronic stress, which ends up upsetting the body hormones and system, depleting the chemical in your brain that is responsible for happiness.
Positive thoughts, feelings and attitudes on the other hand helps us with stress management and may also improve our health and lifespan.
I think it is important for everyone to practice overcoming negative thoughts.
The moment you learn how to create positive thoughts out of negative situations, you will begin to see the world in a different light.
Most people think positive thinking means that we should ignore life’s less pleasant situations, but that isn’t what it means.
Positive thinking basically means approaching unpleasant situations or scenarios in a more productive and positive manner or way.
You should always think the best is going to happen to you in every situation you find yourself instead of the worst.
Positive thinking starts with self-talk.
seld-talk being the endless stream of unspoken thoughts that run through every individuals mind.
These automatic thoughts may be negative or positive, some of them come from reason and logic.
Other self-talk may arise from misconceptions that you make because of your lack of expectations and lack of information due to preconceived ideas do what may happen.
If the thoughts that run through your mind are always or mostly negative, then this means your outlook on life is probably on the pessimistic side.
If your thoughts are mostly positive, then you are likely working on the optimistic side of life, and you practice positive thinking.
Unlike negative thinking which only deals damage to your body, mind and system, positive thinking actually has health benefits that have been proven.
It leads to a lower rate of depression
Increased life span
Better physical and psychological well-being
Lower levels of pain and distress
There are more benefits that come with a positive mindset, but I don’t wish to make this article a lengthy one so I will leave you with only this four.
One question I would ask you is
“Why think negatively when you haven’t even approached the situation yet?
You don’t know what will happen so isn’t it better to go in hoping for the best instead of the worst.
Thinking positively causes no harm neither does it affect your health, it only gives you good benefits, while raising your confidence and esteem.
Having a positive outlook on life will enable you in coping better with stressful scenarios and situations you find yourself in, which reduces the possibility of health problems.
Having a negative outlook will not go overnight, and you shouldn’t expect to become an optimist in only a day.
But with constant practice, eventually your self-talk will have less criticism and more acceptance.
This will also lead you to become less critical or negative about the world around you.
When your state of mind is optimistic, it would be easier for you to handle your everyday stressful events in a constructive manner.
