Turning Grey
08.15.22
Hair is our crowning glory. Our hair captures the attention of most people that sees us. But just like our appearance, our hair doesn't define us. To some people like me, it's a form of expression.
Oh I was just talking about me. I love dyeing my hair. I've been damaging or dyeing my own hair since 2012. I think I got that talent from my mother. She used to have a small hair salon when we were kids. She didn't teach me how to dye hair because they have different style/methods back then.
I decided to DIY dye my hair because of heartbreaks, and stress in all sorts when I was in college.
Up until now, I am dyeing my own hair and my go to hair color is blonde. Why? I'd like to hide my white hairs so I blended the other hairs too.
The last time I bleached my hair was around March. Right before we left Marikina, I felt like I needed to bleach my roots again. Well yes I did!
Here's what I did and how:
Purchased hair products on Shopee
This is where I purchased my bleachig powder last time too. It's so cheap, you get 500g of bleaching powder for around 70pesos.
I bought silver shampoo because I want to try if it will have a good result. The purple shampoo and the cellowax was for my younger sister.
Bleached my roots
First of all, here's how my hair looked like before doing my roots. It's been 4 months since I bleached my hair and the perfect time to do my roots.
This time, I only needed to bleach my roots so that my hair won't fall off. The last time I retouched my hair, I used a foil to incubate the bleach but this time I didn't use a foil because I don't have time to do it.
Originally planned to bleach my roots twice so that the level will match the previously bleached part, but I didn't get the chance to do a 2nd round because we left for Cebu.
Use purple/silver shampoo
I usually use purple shampoo to tone my hair so it won't look too yellowish after bleaching.
Using purple shampoo once or twice a week for several weeks, can give you this result. Remember, your hair needs to be at least level 8 to 10 lighter color.
Now let me show you the effects of using silver shampoo.
After 1st use ..
I usually get he habit of toning my hair after bleaching. As mentioned, I didn't get to do a 2nd session of bleaching my roots so don't expect that the silver shampoo will have a promising effect on my roots.
After 2nd use...
If you read the instructions on how to use purple or silver shampoo, it's advised to use it as a shampoo on wet hair. For me, I use it on dry hair and apply a generous amount on your hair like an hair dye, then rinse it after 3 to 5 mins. Don't leave it on for too long, it'll turn your hair purple but will can be washed off after a few washed.
Here's how it looked like on my 3rd use....
The silver color is more obvious now. Oh by the way, the silver color can fade easily if you shampoo your hair everyday, but you can still continue to use it at least once a week so you can maintain or get the color that you want to achieve.
Take note that I did this last month before we left Marikina, so it's almost been a month since and here's how mu hair looks like after 3 weeks from using or bleaching my hair
Did you notice my roots?
I told you the purple/silver shampoo will have very little effect. It only toned my hair because it didn't reach level 8 - 10 lightness to achieve a silver color.
I still love how my hair turned out and probably I will not have time to redo my roots soon. Sadt.
