What To Do When The Teacher is The Problem?
Teachers are often praised for being second mothers. In school, they are the #1 influence of our children. But, wherever we go we often hear stories about teachers whose behavior ranges from lousy to frightening. The most common are teachers who simply don't have skills to teach at their grade level. For instance, teachers on grade 1 should be at least be like the kindergarten teachers who have lots of patience on children. While, the least and the frightening behaviors of bully or worst abusive teachers that we sometimes see on TV or in the movies. With social media, complaints about teachers become overwhelming too. Like last year, a mother of one student resorted to "Tulfo in Action" a famous local TV program with millions of following in YouTube and Facebook, complaining about her child's 55 year old teacher who according to her ridiculed the child and sent the child out of class. The teacher defended that this was just her way to discipline her students. Either way, I have mix feelings about this issue. While there are really few teachers who kept dragging their personal problems at school leaving the children vulnerable over displacement of the teacher's bad mood and temper, there are also teachers who transpires prudent judgement in disciplining their students.
So, I think parents will just have to hope that their child will get a teacher who cares enough about teaching, doing what their job expects them to be and displays more noble qualities to students. However, **what should you do if your child is not so lucky on her/his teacher in school?** **1. Speak directly to the teacher about your concern.** The person that can answer your questions about the problem would only be the teacher concerned, so better to talk to her/him first. If you don't see improvement, schedule a meeting with the principal. And better to put your complaints in writing and attach any materials or proof - for example test papers checked incorrectly, denied projects etc. **2. Act immediately.** Don't wait for another problem to arise before you complain. And don't wait until midway of the school year before you act on it. Chances are the principal or teacher will persuade you to hang in there till the end of the year. And your child will endure the rest of the year too with that teacher if it's not dealt with effectively. **3. Ask other parents if they are experiencing similar problems.** Like that mother complaining in "Tulfo in Action," I think it would be better for her to ask other parents if their child got mistreated by that same teacher too. If that happened in consensus, parents can join forces to lodge a complain against that teacher to the principal to give the necessary sanction. **4. Insist on a transfer to another teacher if there is no improvement.** A very common solution principals would provide to parents complaining about teachers would usually be giving Mr. So-and-so a chance, and the teacher will be sent for training in how to control a class. But, as a parent, if you think your child needs a better teacher right now, you would opt to transfer your child to another teacher.
As parents or guardians we should be an advocate for our children, no one else will be. Minsan..prob ng mga students ay ang teachers lalo na yung mga strict.. Imbess matututo ang bata, hbdi mka concentrate.. Dapat tlga sla maging guide especially the parents...
Yes! Totoo yan... paano pa mka concentrate if fear interferes. Not a good motivation already.

Toxic lng ako during exam sa college.. Lalo na yung sa third at fourth kc my thesis na.. Pro nag enjoy ako nun. Pati sa high school..

I remember when my son was in the first grade and he came home with a pinch mark with wee blood on it. I was raging to know the teacher did it. I went to the school the next day and she's in denial but admits that she did if because of my son misbehaving.
Oh no! misbehaving is typical in 1st graders, teachers must be so patient and creative pano ma deal ang problema na ganyan, hindi pwede pinch lang ng pinch if may problema sa bata..
She never did that again cause I told her next time if that happens again I will complain because she's supposed to teach the children not hurt them and if there are misbehaving going on then talk to the parents and let the parents deal with it, right?
I remember when i was at elementary time my teacher was so annoying she always give me 0 on test 🤣
Maybe the test was just so hard and impossible for the students on that grade level to answer.. There are teachers like that too..

I remember when I was in High School. Our class complains to our teacher about her project kuno. She wants us to buy a water dispenser and my classmates didn't agree. She got agree to us and said she will go to the principals office to report that our section showed disrespect to her. When we were on the guidance she was the one who got humiliate because we tell the principal what kind of teacher she was. During our classes she was only reading pocket books and she was borrowed it to us. I don't k ow what happened to her after that. Hehe
Yikes! Yan din problema sa mga elementary schools lalo na sa public, dahil nga government at hindi well funded ung mga teachers din sobra sa project naaawa nlng ako sa ibang parents who cant keep up with the contributions, kya nga nasa public schools mga anak nila kc kapos.. At talagang pocketbooks lang inaatupag wala akong masabi hehe!

Teachers are not perfect, dapat din tandaan yun ng mga magulang. Oo nakakagawa sila minsan ng hindi magagandang bagay, pero dapat din nating isipin na may mga pinagdaanan din sila. Hindi porket teacher, kailangan perfect na, kailangan alam lahat. Tao din sila minsan nagkakamali din.
Syempre nobody is perfect. But that should not be an excuse in making mistakes. Like doctors and nurses in the hospitals they're not perfect too but their liability is greatest if they make mistakes to any patient. Any where we go, any work and any passion we have to do it with love and responsibility.
During my secondary school days we have an English teacher who is obviously not professional at teaching. It's so obvious that other teachers in our school know. But how strict she was and how related she is to the principal made us to know no way to go about it. So one day I told my parent about it and a PTA meeting was called. And from there the issue was solved. So from my own personal experience, I think the power of PTA meeting is not to be underestimated.
Indeed. Parents should voice out what is right too, if it becomes obvious that the teacher is not really capable. I'm glad all parents take a stand to solve that issue, or else all students would suffer for the entire year.
Yeah, We should not react towards them. we should keep clam and wait for proper time. Is teacher is main problem, change the Institute or complain to head silently

What will the students learn when a teacher makes a mistake. The place of the teacher is after the parents. And what will the students learn if there is immoral behavior against education in this place?
Exactly, children will feel fear and will be demotivated to learn. Children just started to learn things in school that's why teachers should be sensitive about this too.

i like the formatting of your post! it's tricky, because in many cultures, families are reluctant to criticize teachers due to respect offered to individuals in positions of authority. nice post!
That's the problem we have in the society, I don't question about respect as long as one is doing his best on the job she/ he performs in the society.
i agree, and the individual should also stay abreast of the most the latest best practices in their field of study. long gone are the days of doing the same thing over and over again. the only constant in this world is change (for the better).
Almost every student will get have at least one teacher that they'll hate the most. Hahaha that's inevitable.
