Places I Had Visited In Hong Kong (The Countrysides)
Fascinating View Of Hong Kong's Monasteries
The Ridges And Undulating Slopes Of Hong Kong Mountains
From countrysides, monasteries, to mountains, next will be the cityscapes of Hong Kong.
When you heard about Hong Kong, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?
The beautiful city, isn't it?
Hong Kong has three beautiful regions, Hong Kong Island, Kowloon (where I am currently residing), and New Territories. The first two cities are more on finance and business centers and skyscrapers, while the New Territories are more on natural features, where you can find the beautiful mountains, monasteries, beaches, and other natural features, it is like the countryside of HK.
So let me tour you virtually to the beautiful cities of HK.
Let's start with the capital city of HK, Central
Central HK
Central HK is the capital city of Hong Kong. This city is known for its skyscrapers, government, and finance centers, as well as corporate establishments, and is considered as HK's business district.
The photo below was taken when we went back to the central pier from Cheung Chau Island. I was lucky to get a perfect spot on the open deck of the ferry. The tallest building in the photo is the ICC, HK's tallest building.
The second tallest building is the 2IFC. Let's have a closer look at the 2IFC building.
There are two IFC buildings in HK, the first one is where I took the photo, the rooftop of 1IFc, and the taller one is the 2IFC. This building is the pre-eminent landmark of Hong Kong island. A classic skyscraper that symbolizes the city's competitive financial vigor.
You can also see the Worldwide House in Central where you can find Filipino stores. Just next to the Worldwide House is the Landmark where you can find shops of different branded merchandise and apparel.
It is also the most visited place every Christmas season because it always has a spectacular Christmas display just like this one last December 2020.
But the most visited part of Central is Hong Kong's Observation Wheel.
It's a 197 ft tall Ferris wheel with 42 gondolas located near the Central pier facing the HK sea. All rooms are air-conditioned and can seat up to 8 people with about two to three spins that take 15 minutes.
Next to Central is Admiralty.
Admiralty HK
Admiralty is adjacent to Central and an extension of the Central business district. The first building (left) in the photo is HK's Convention and Exhibition center near Victoria Harbour of TST that is one of the major landmarks of the Hong Kong island region.
The most visited place of Admiralty is Tamar Park. If you will walk at this park on weekends, you will surely see hundreds to thousands of people lying on the green field of this park. The building in the photo below is Tamar Government Complex. This building functions as HK's government seat where the Chief Executive's Office and other government offices are located.
Outside the building is a sightseeing platform where you can take a perfect shot of the West Kowloon and Victoria Harbour.
And more stunning skyscrapers.
Tsim Sha Tsui HK
Tsim Sha Tsui is considered HK's shopping district and is commonly called TST. If you are looking for shops for branded apparel, this city is the perfect place for you.
There are many skyscrapers and panoramic landmarks in TST, even the famous and biggest Apple Store is located in this city.
The most visited place in TST is the Victoria Harbour. This place in the photo below is called The Avenue of Stars along Victoria Harbour.
For those who want to experience riding on a traditional Chinese wooden junk boat, Victoria Harbour is the place to visit. This boat sails along HK's picturesque Victoria Harbour, and is the only remaining traditional Chinese junk boat in Hong Kong. If you will visit this place, wait until dawn because you will witness a truly fascinating picturesque.
Just near Victoria Harbour are Hong Kong's two famous museums.
Hong Kong's Semi-circle Space Museum.
And Hong Kong's Museum of Art.
You can also see the famous HK's Clock Tower in TST.
Walk more from this place and you will see Hong Kong's Peninsula.
And few distances away is the famous and elegant, 1881 Heritage.
And every December, TST Victoria Harbour and other landmarks are transforming into a magical fairytale-like wonderland with lots of Christmas decors and fascinating lights.
The photo above was the Christmas display along Victoria Harbour last December 2019.
If you will ask, what is the most beautiful city in HK? My answer is Tsim Sha Tsui. So take it down so that when you visit the country in the future, don't forget to visit TST, and the best season is the winter season.
If the USA has Times Square, Hong Kong has too.
Causeway Bay HK
The famous Times Square is located in Causeway Bay HK.
From USA's Time Square to London. You can visit the same place in Causeway Bay.
The best time to visit this place is every December because there are also a lot of beautiful Christmas displays in this area. And it's perfect to roam around the city at night because of its fascinating and shimmering lights.
Are you looking for a fast rail station? You can find it here.
West Kowloon HK
The photo below is the fastest rail station in West Kowloon for those who want to travel from HK to China. The station is being surrounded by a green plaza and atop the station. Visitors can take a perfect shot of Central and Victoria Harbour on top of the West Kowloon station.
The tallest building behind it is the ICC or HK's tallest building.
Near this station is the famous Xiqu Center. It is where Cantonese opera is performed, as well as other traditional forms of Chinese theatre.
There are new landmarks in West Kowloon that are attracting visitors because of their world-class architectural designs, such as, M+ Pavilion, Growing Up Pavilion, Freespace, and the renovated Art and Nursery park. These places will be my next target π.
Are you looking for affordable merchandise and apparel in HK?
You might think that HK only has expensive stuff because it's an expensive city, but it also has places where you can buy affordable merchandise along the street. It is like a Divisoria and Baclaran of the Philippines.
The Street Markets of HK I had visited
If you are looking for budget-friendly merchandise and apparel, you can visit these places.
Prince Edward (Fa Yuen Street)
Prince Edward is the nearest station to my place and my most convenient place to shop because all street vendors are just in a single long street and are not scattered. You can find affordable stuff here, such as fashion clothes and accessories, sports and fashion shoes, bags, garments, as well as house and school supplies, and phone accessories. You can also try Chinese street foods while shopping on this street.
Sham Shui Pu (all MTR exits has street markets)
If you are looking for an affordable original to class A phones and other gadgets, you can visit this place. There are also original second-hand gadgets here that are sold at very affordable prices. This place is also considered as HK's Lighting capital since most electrical supplies can be found here, as well as gadget repair shops. Affordable luggage, clothes, shoes, bags, and other stuff can also be found there.
Jordan (Temple Street)
If you want to experience night shopping at a night market, you can visit this place. Some stalls are open during day time, but most stalls are open at night. A wide range of merchandise and apparel are also sold here, as well as accessories, souvenirs, and gadgets.
I also found a Filipino restaurant near this market. I thought their food is affordable, but no, even Filipino foods in this restaurant are expensive π€£. You can tell from my background that it's a Filipino restaurant, from the bamboo walls, and that jeepney portrait, lol.
Ladies' Market Mong Kok (Tung Choi Street)
You might think that this market is just for ladies, no it's not π. This market offers a wide range of fashion clothes, bags, shoes, gimmicks, and gadgets, not just for ladies, but also for men. You can also find different souvenirs, jackets, and accessories in this market.
Mongkok is also one of the favorites places for bargain shopping in HK. You can also find shops for different ladies' makeups, beauty products, and supplements, as well as accessories. This Bonjour shop has a lot of Japan-made beauty products.
It's also a beautiful city next to TST.
I like adventure but I also like kiddy stuff and places π€.
Snoopy World at Shatin HK
If you love Snoopy and his friends, you can visit this place. We went to this place after visiting the Ten Thousand Buddhas because this is just a few distances away from it and just located near the Shatin mall.
Who loves Peanuts and friends? For sure, you do.
Donut at D'Park Mall Tsuen Wan HK
When I heard about D'Park, I thought it's a park, but when I got there, I only saw a pretty mall, lol.
As I roamed around the mall, I saw Donut and the kiddy side of me came out, π€£. I wanted to get some of his balloons if I was only allowed to, lol.
And who doesn't know About Disneyland? The most visited Theme park of HK.
Disneyland HK
I've been to Disneyland but only at the outside part of it π because we don't have enough money to buy a ticket that time, lol. This will be my next goal next month before I go back to the Philippines. It's already an opportunity to visit this dreamland while I am here.
But even the outside part has pretty displays as well and you will love to stay there. I especially love this fountain with Minnie mouse on top.
There is also a lake called Inspirational Lake behind Disneyland where visitors can take a rest and even have their picnic. I might, as well, visit this lake next month.
You guys can also see European-style landmarks here since Hong Kong has been a European colony in the past. Just like this Mary Knoll's School near our place. It looks like a private school right? But my Chinese friend said that it is a public school. Wow, it's amazing!
Among all the urban parks I had visited, my most favorite one is the park near our place.
Kowloon Walled City Park
Behind the wall of Kowloon city lies a spectacular green park. I feel like in mainland China or Korea when roaming around this park. It's an urban park but once you go inside, you will see a lot of trees, flowers, and other plants, even lakes and swamps. It is full of greens and Chinese Pavilions and makes you feel like you are in a real forest.
The best part of the park is this lake with a pavilion and cascading waterfalls beside it.
If you are looking for sheds and a place to relax because of the hot weather during Summer, this is the best park to visit.
So these are just some of the landscapes of Hong Kong.
What is your most favorite place there?
Thanks for your time and I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of mine π.
When you heard about Hong Kong, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? ---- DISNEYLAND.
