The Village Chief’s Secret

 "Let’s do this now", a voice whispered to another in the dark.

The whistle of the night watchman can be heard as they tiptoed towards the chief’s house. Adeyemi who was the brain behind the idea to search for the Secret the chief has been hiding from the villagers walked in front, the darkness hiding his sweaty face filled with fear of the unknown.

A few steps away from the chief’s house Adeyemi turned back, the two other young men with him murmured and silently asked why

“I think this is a futile assignment”

“Why do you say so?” Femi asked

“What if we get caught?. What if the chief has no secret?. What if he got all his money from the Cocoa business or from gambling around?”

“Hey, stop all these what-ifs. We’ve come this far there's no going back” Okoro who is known for his short temper replied in anger

Together the three jumped the fence and walked towards the block where the chief’s office is located. “pufffff”

“Warr-or-tt’s that?” Okoro stammered

‘’Shut up man!. That’s the feign gunshot from the watchman” Adeyemi retorted

“Nice one! It’s now Okoro One , Adeyemi one , Femi Zero” Femi whisper with his voice laced with laughter

“What do you mean?” Okoro and Adeyemi asked in unison

“That’s the number of times you both chickened” he replied the time laughing out loud

“Are you for real? You think this is the time to joke?” Okoro roar in anger

“Who are those talking there?” the voice of the chief barreled from his bedroom.

The boys stood in their tracks and waited for some minutes. Their ears glued to the wall trying to hear the sound being made inside, eyes looking to and fro and legs ready to flee. After over one minute of waiting, they whispered to each other and proceed to the office. Luckily, Bisola the chief’s daughter gave them the keys to her Dad’s office earlier in the day. She’s in love with Okoro, but the same can’t be said about him.

They went straight to the Chief’s drawer and saw the Diary Bisola talked about. They took the jotter and hastening left the office. Leaving the door ajar without caring about the repercussion.

They got back to their apartment and started opening the pages of the Diary. So many phrases were written down and it made no sense to them. Also, in the Diary, the Chief kept repeating the word Read and one weird word.

“This man thinks so highly of himself, I’ve seen the word Smart like ten times in just two pages” Femi shouted in frustration.

“It isn’t as annoying as the word noise he keeps writing” Okoro replied

“So we just wasted our time?” Adeyemi asked no one in particular.

They threw the Diary in anger into the dustbin and went to sleep.

There was chaos in the chief's house the next day. His precious Diary is gone and the signs that it was taken overnight was everywhere, which further confirm his suspicion about hearing a voice around 2 am. He called his wife and children and asked them if they know anything about it but they all denied knowing anything about it. After much Persuasion, Bisola confessed that she gave the Keys to Okoro. When asked why she replied

“Dad left the Village a few months back and came back Rich, so many people believe he is into something illegal and rumours are flying. Moreover, I asked Dad to teach me what he is into but he refused, he is always on his phone smiling at some green and red graphs, with his Diary close by. So I decided to tell my boyfriend his secret since he refuse to teach me”

Together they went to the boys' house but on getting there, they were told they threw the Diary away since the things written there are useless.

The Chief shouted and fell. He was rushed to the hospital where he was attended to. The three friends went to the dustbin in search of the Diary and took it to the chief at the hospital. He then explains the things written there. How he got his money from a site called readcash and its brother noisecash. He also talked about the opportunities available on SmartBCH and  How he made a lot of money from investing in LAWPUNK, $CATS , $MIST and some other tokens.

He taught everyone how the site works and also explain what the 12 seed phrases written down in the Diary entails. The three friends apologized and joined the site  The village became a Bitcoincash loving one. And they all live happily ever after.

Moral lesson

First, the story won’t even pass for an 1802 Nigerian movie script, talk less of today’s Movie script Hahaha. Still busy with work and the pending school works are there.

So, forgive me for this childish story Hahaha, so no moral lesson
