Tables do turn
I know a man who had an apartment in the heart of Lagos-Ikeja. He was working and earning a decent salary, his friend got a job close to his house and asked to stay with him for a week or two till he gets his, he refused blatantly, saying he love his space. His friend pleaded and promised not to spend more than a week but he insisted that he can’t accommodate him for even a day.
A few years down the lane, he lost his job and sent out applications to various firms. He was called for an interview and it happened to be close to his friend’s house in the other state. He need to be punctual to the interview so he picked up the phone to talk to his friend who he rejected a few years back. He was reluctant because he knew what he did to him back then. Will he still remember? Will he forgive me? He kept on asking himself. To his surprise, his friend accepted his request and accommodated him for over 6 months even though he promised to only stay there for 3 days till the interview is over. He did what he did, not knowing that sometimes tables do turn.
The poor boy with no money to feed today may end up feeding thousands tomorrow.
I’ve seen and heard so many stories of how situations changed. How someone who was ridiculed, shamed and disgraced became someone to be reckoned with in the society. I heard stories of various Josephs who later became the hope their brothers seek, the same brothers that denied them and sell them off into slavery.
It happened to various celebrities who had an early start into stardom, then boom, made millions by an early age but lose it all after some time. It happened to a pro wrestler who rose to fame, became addicted to drugs and alcohol and ended up living in a car. It happened to a college professor who was forced to live on the street and beg for food in trash bins. And it happened to a single mom who ran a successful business but was forced to sell her possessions piece by piece and finally lost it all.
Tables turn easily, someone who has it all can lose it all in the twinkle of an eye, and someone with nothing can have more than enough the next day.
Things change when least expected, when you have money the best thing you can do is to touch lives, help others because you might end up needing them
Imagine you have made it, you have money, how will you spend your life? For some people making it is the goal but to some making it is not the main thing, making it is also about giving, giving back to the community, giving hope to others and simply being an inspiration. Giving to people who need help, is just like asking God to bless you because the one who helps will be helped.
The world has given us so much in terms of opportunity, knowledge and job. So many people started with nothing and today they are making things happen in their field.
But we cannot forget those who did not make it or those who are still working hard trying to make it. Truly, you can’t help every single person who comes to you every single time but those you have the means to help, please help. When helping it shouldn'tbe for the sake of what we stand to gain or just for the sake of snapping and posting on social media. A kind word, a pat on the back, and a few cents can go a long way in helping others. Life is too short not to give back, there are more blessings in giving than in receiving and we never can tell, the “helped” can later be the “helper”.

Whatever we do always comes back, if we show kindness then we received the same. We don't need to be rude co'z we don't know what that person is going through.
