As an IT expert, I can guide you through the steps. Remove the hard disk and connect to a PC to make a copy

Well the best way is to remove the power cable from you Pc, and then open the cover. Behind the CD ROM you will see 2 cables, remove them and connect to the hard disk of you laptop. Turn the PC and you will see that hard disk in my computer, copy your stuff to the PC hard disk or a USB stick and then shut down and reconnect to the cables to CD room

Well my guess was right that it was the software. Something went wrong while the update took place

It's the software. Start up won't resume. I have no idea what she downloaded this time but i swear it ruined the software. I'm planning on doing that tomorrow. Gonna have it checked first
it may he a virus. maybe it's something that ate up the memory. and it became corrupted since it stays on start up... reformatting or restoring may help. be sure your hdd isnt frozen so you won't have problem in reformatting. there are times though that reformatting wont help. but I hope it does in your case
Well tge laptop needs to get checked today because my thesis materials are still there and I'm still waiting for the final final revision feedbacks ;-;
