Impatience: Every Over Ambitious Person’s Downfall
To be impatient is to look at something you want and expect it to happen immediately instead of allowing it to unfold naturally. Impatience makes you rush things along, shortening your own learning curve as well as getting ahead of yourself.
Impatience may be defined as: a feeling of annoyance and displeasure resulting from a sense of anxiety or eagerness especially when caused by delay or waiting. The reason impatience has become the downfall of so many over-ambitious people is because they are always in a hurry and don't want to waste time, as a result they end up falling and eventually waste time. One’s impatience with the speed at which we wanted our dreams to come true ended up being their downfall. Impatience can be summed up with one word: Expectations. The root cause of impatience comes from a lack of understanding and expectations around what is to come. With the right preparation and planning, you can achieve most anything you set your mind too.
Impatience is a deadly form of intellectual weakness that will crush your dreams, hopes, and aspirations faster than anything else. It is the weakness of desire. It's the weakness of no patience. Impatience is a desire to possess what you don't have now, along with a desire to avoid what you must do to attain it.
Impatience is being unwilling to pay the price for a prize in time; therefore, expecting to receive it for nothing now. No person ever had success without paying for it first. Success does not come freely and easily - never has and never will. You'll never buy it on easy terms, and you'll never receive it as a gift or as something handed to you on a silver platter.
We know the feeling. As soon as something bad happens, our mind is racing a thousand miles a second, and we are ready to make too many moves at once. Trust me on this, it's not a good thing.
What you need to do when confronted with a difficult situation is to be patient. I don't mean patience as in "Give yourself time to think of a solution before doing what needs to be done". I mean patience in the sense of "Be calm and comfortable waiting for the right timing before doing what needs to be done".
When something bad happens, let's say you lost your job because the company didn't make some profits, or you are getting kicked out of your apartment because rent hasn't been paid for three months, try your best not to panic, this is the worst thing you can do.
Needless to say, impatience is a life lesson that I've learned the hard way, but now I'm wiser and ready to teach it to others. The best way to avoid future frustrations is to change the perspective of impatience for something more productive. When we are impatient, we don't give the request enough time. We want things to happen immediately and that's not possible. There are times that we want to be successful quickly. Is there a solution for this?
Yes, of course! First of all, we should be clear about our dream. What kind of lifestyle do you want? Write it down and have a plan on how you can achieve your dream. Most importantly, be patient to complete the plan and most important is to do it regularly. Being impatient affects our dream in life. Do not be impatient, everything will happen in God's time.
"Patience is the companion of wisdom”
Impatient people usually tend to skip the preparation phase, I think they act that way because they don’t value the process. They always want instant result, and they don’t want to put forth much effort to get it. To follow that logic, if you study harder in school, you will likely get better grades (higher score). If you work harder, you will get a higher paying job. The truth is that preparation is the key ingredient to success (in anything you do).
If you don’t have a strong foundation, there is no way you can build a tall building. In everyday life, we are often faced with the decision of investing our time and effort into something or skipping it entirely. Is it worth the effort? Typically it’s worth it but for some reason, many people are not willing to go through the process of preparation. As long as all your knowledge is online and easily accessible, you don’t need to study hard.
Impatience is a beginning of many bad things. It's not an end that matters, but a beginning. So if you are impatient, how does it affect you?
1. You can't finish anything at the moment.
2. You constantly feel the urge to do something.
3. You always have to have something to do while doing something else.
4. You usually lack the ability to make your mind up about things.
5. You're always afraid that you're forced to make a decision, when there is no such thing as "right" one.
6. You constantly feel like the world is against you, everyone's out to get you
7. You feel like a failure all the time and nothing can change it
8. You fail to understand why people need time to relax and unwind
9. You think that by being impatient you're faster and more productive, than people who are relaxed
Nice article. Impatience will make you jump process and rush your season.
