Sunday well spent

“Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.” – Misty Copeland
I started my Sunday late as it's the only day that I can sleep longer not thinking of anything to do as I have written my article and scheduled it for posting. Thinking that it is my chance to be active in one of the groups that I joined that their only requirement is to be active. But everything changes when one of my friends(Pey) sent us a message telling us that her mom needs a blood transfusion and that she needs four bags of blood.
By 11:45 am, she told us that she only got one bag of blood and that she needs three more and that her mom is in a critical condition. Me and my friends started calling all the blood banks that we can find and because it was almost lunchtime we had a hard time calling them.
By 1 pm, I decided to go to the nearest blood blank since it was not answering my call, but it turned out that it was closed on Sundays. I went directly to Pey in Sta. Ana Hospital as she's already in panic mode looking for blood.
I arrived in Sta. Ana Hosp by 2:45 and waited for Pey outside the hospital as I don't want to go inside and it is also because the hospital is strict in allowing visitors to go in. While waiting for Pey, Mayie and I keep on calling hospitals with blood banks luckily we found one in Ospital ng Malabon. A 14 kilometers away from Sta. Ana hospital.
By 3:30 pm Pey and I are on our way to Malabon to pick up one bag of blood. It's 35 minutes away from where we are and while we are on the road I also take the chance to get photos that I can use for a contest.
Made sure to make Pey laugh too as she's been too stressed already since her mom just got out of the hospital a week ago and now she's in the ICU.
By past 4 pm we arrived at Ospital ng Malabon, we forgot to bring the container for the blood so we still have to buy one. Then back again to Sta. Ana Hosp to deliver the bag of blood.
We arrived in Sta. Ana before 5 pm and while on our way back we decided to have coffee after we deliver the blood but luckily as soon as we arrived at the hospital Mayie messaged us again that she found another bag and need to be picked up before 7 pm. Of course, we prioritized first the blood before we had coffee.
It was already dark when we reached De Los Medical Center though it is only 10 kilometers away. Registered at the entrance and were off to the laboratory where we can get the blood. There is still some process to be made and we also need to pay the blood before we can get it. After 30 minutes were off again to Sta. Ana Hosp.
After we deliver the last bag of blood we decided to have dinner first as it was already past 8 pm though we are still thinking about the last bag that we need.
We may not be able to complete yet the four bags that we need but still, we treat for ourselves for the first three bags that we had delivered at the hospital.
By 9 pm we are having dinner at Marugame Udon. Pey had the Chicken Teriyaki while I had the Sukiyaki Ninja Udon. We bought Cucumber and lemon juice too at the stalls outside the restaurant. And while we are having dinner, Mayie messaged us telling us that the last bag of blood that we need is available for pick up today.
Pey's mom is still in the ICU, and still in critical condition. We just hope that after they completed the blood transfusion there will be some changes.
My Sunday was a tiring day but a well-spent day too. Being able to help a friend in need is one of the best feelings. And with the help of each other, there is nothing that you can't do. If there is one thing that I'll keep forever it is the friendship that I have with my friends that is always there not only in good times but in bad times too.
And if you have come this far... Thank you for sharing your time with me.
