A fictional journey around the world of Eylz2021, Bloghound and Pichi28. A trip around the world to escape the reality that they are stuck at the confines of their home for almost 2 years now.
Day 3
They all woke up that morning with enthusiasm in their hearts knowing that in an hour or two all of them will be out again exploring the city.
After their breakfast, they meet again in the lobby and waited for Peter. All of them brought extra clothes for they are going to the caves. This time they are going to do spelunking! The three girls already have an idea about this activity but still, they want to try it in Budapest. Eylz and Bloghound experienced it in Sagada while Pichi did it in Bulacan. The three of them are still interested in this activity because of the different adrenaline rush that it gives to them. Mátyáshegy is a 13 mins drive from their hotel and they are going to meet their guides at the entrance of the cave. Peter parks his car near the entrance of the cave and gets off to have a small chat with the guides using their own language. Everyone is looking at them as if telling them "hey there are other people here who don't understand your language," after a few moments, Peter realized that his company doesn't understand what they are talking about so he explained to them what he and the guide discuss.
The guides handed them the equipment that they will be needing, helmets with lights plus the special clothing that they will be wearing while inside the cave. Kristoffer was so excited and he did finish changing first. After a couple of minutes, they are in for a special briefing of do's and don't inside the cave and after the briefing, all of them started going inside the cave.
They climb, crawl and slide about at a temperature that is way lower than the outside world. The three girls are still enjoying the adventure but Kristoff and Peter started to lose their enjoyment but they can't complain because they all agreed to do this activity.
After 3 hours of feeling like there is no end to that climbing, crawling, and trekking they felt great relief, to see and experience such a subterranean panorama was really extraordinary.
They were all hungry and weary after the activity but no one regrets it. Peter still wants to rest but his tummy is growling already so they look for a nearby restaurant where they had a sumptuous lunch.
Eylz expected everyone to be weary that's why she thought that it would be the best time to schedule the spa. Hungary is famous for its thermal baths that's why after they had their lunch they go direct to the famous Széchenyi Thermal Bath. Eylz book the indoor pool where they are separated from the big crowd not because they don't want to join the crowd but just because they are making sure to be away from big crowds, you know covid19. They bought a combined package of Széchenyi and Danube Cruisin so after two hours of staying at the thermal bath where they also had a massage they are now in for a cruise in the Danube River.
The cruise lasts for 3 hours, with dinner included and sightseeing at Széchenyi Chain Bridge at night. Another icon of Budapest, where they illuminate it during night, this bridge joins the 2 halves of the city, Buda and Pest, for the locals this bridge symbolizes advancement and connectivity.
They went back to their hotel that night satisfied with all the beauty that they saw in just one day. Yes, it was tiring from all the crawling, climbing, and sliding that they did in the cave but still their day turned out well.
Day 4
This morning they went out earlier than usual to have a walk along in Danube Bank, which is one of Budapest's best-known landmarks. The monument is consists of about 60 pairs of iron sculptured shoes to pay tribute to the 3500 civilians (including 800 jews) that were forced to take off their shoes before they are shot to death. All that was left was their shoes when they tumbled down to the river. The monument was designed by Can Togay and sculptor Guyla Pauer. The design was so simple and yet so powerful that it speaks of this tragic period in the history of World War II.
After an hour of walking along the Danube Bank they are off to Margaret Island. You will find Margaret Island in the heart of the Danube that is connected to both Buda and Pest by a bridge. Margaret Island is like a mini version of Central Park in New York, It has a serene parkland that is dotted with cafes, beautiful picnic spots, jogging, and biking routes, meadows and parks, and a Japanese garden too!
The island has a musical fountain too and they called it Palatinus Strand. It showcases 10-meter water jets and special multimedia effects while classical music is playing.
They had lunch at one of the cafes in the area where they can watch the beautiful fountain. They left the island after their lunch and head over to Console Game Over museum. The kid in them was alive again after seeing all kinds of consoles that are there in the museum. The museum houses a vast collection of game consoles from the early 70 up to the present. They played sega, atari, pac-man, all game consoles that you can think of is there, and what's more amazing? they are all working.
They played there the whole afternoon forgetting about other places where they are supposed to go except for the last two in their itinerary which is chasing sunset in Gellert Hill and the draft beer tour after they watch the sunset.
Chasing the sunset at Gellert Hill was really worth it. You can see the beauty of the whole Budapest from above that hill. It was a sight that is hard leave actually but unfortunately, they didn't bring picnic food and wine.
After taking in all the beauty that they can see they head over to the Ruins Pub. The name of the pub is so unique to Hungary, the place where the Old buildings are renovated as bars and restaurants. They had bar hopping just to taste every draft beer the place offers. They went back to the hotel past midnight. It's their last night in Budapest so who cares if they went back to their hotel wasted.
Day 5
Kristoff knock at the girls room to bid them goodbye, his flight back to his home country is just after lunch so he have to leave the hotel early. Peter is still staying with his family for few more days while the girls are still undecided where they are going next.
Any suggestion where to go next?
