Just read the article of @Just1dood entitled Your Expiry (or Best Before) date and that is why I thought of this topic. But no, I will not talk about the expiry date but let's talk about things that a person does before she or he went out on a date. Just playing with the best before date from his title.
Yes, let's talk about the basics of going out on a date. The do's and don'ts maybe or the questions that you ask a person before going out on a date. You know, it is always best to know a lit bit about the person first before going out on date. Don't you think it is just right to know what kind of person you are going out with?
Though I wonder, does dating style change now a days? Do you just go out and meet the person without really knowing him or her? Nope right? Even if he or she is set up by your friends you still want to know something about the person right? So what are the things that you asked to know him/her a little bit?
Asking questions will give you an idea of what kind of person you are going to meet. You have to be observant, you have to listen in every detail that he/she is going to tell you. You also have to look out on his/her attitude on how he deals with his parents, siblings or the people around him/her. See how he/she deal with the common people that you cross path with along the streets and how he/she deal with the higher ups in his/her work. This is important because this will show you how he really deals with people and how he/she will deal with you in the future. Remember people wears mask during the first dates just to get the attention of the person he/she is dating.
There are so many getting to know you questions out there that you can use if you want to start a conversation. Starting and establishing a good communication is also one of the most important part before you go out on a date for you to be comfortable with each other. Good conversation starters are those in between small talk and a bit personal questions. Ask about how his/her day went. Ask about his/her pet. Those light questions that can make him/her open up to you. Try to establish a conversation that will both of you understand each others basic interest and hobbies.
Here are the basic questions that you can use to start a conversation:
What was the last book that you read?
Morning person or night owl?
Β Do you love or hate rollercoasters?
What's your favorite holiday?
Would you rather trade intelligence for looks or looks for intelligence?
If you still want more questions you can refer to this site and they have a 100 questions that can help you. https://www.signupgenius.com/groups/getting-to-know-you-questions.cfm
Those are just examples of question for you to start a conversation, remember your aim is to establish a conversation not to have a question an answer portion. It's not a job interview so you have to listen and pay attention to what the other person is saying, that is where your connection will begin.
And these are the basic of best before dates that you have to know before you go out on a date. And remember, make sure a friend or a family member knows where you are going and who you are with for safety measures. This one is not only for the young ones but for all the ages. There are so many bad guys out there that you have to think of your safety first, remember you really don't know the person that well so always be cautious.

As I was reading this, I picture a very awkward situation with two people.
She: Do you like reading? I love books He: Uh, not really... She: Oh, okay... silence He: Do you play online games? She: I'm not really familiar with it He: Oh, okay... silence
