Hi, Single people out there!
It's the time of the year again when you are reminded about being alone, albeit not lonely, because of the many couples you have encountered and the many #RelationshipGoals posts that you are seeing on social media.
Perhaps, you're somehow asking yourself, "Why am I still single?" when all or most of your High School classmates and friends are already in a relationship or are now engaged and starting to build their own families. Possibly, your family and relatives keep asking you the question, "When will you get married?"
Maybe, you are now doubting that you will never find the love you have been waiting for because it's taking so long already and your ideal age of settling down and getting married is already approaching. Or possibly, you're also thinking that there is no one destined to become the love of your life and that you will grow old alone.
However, you don't have to pressure yourself about getting into a relationship when you know to yourself that you are not yet ready and if you have other priorities in life and having a boyfriend/girlfriend is not part of it.
Always remember, it's okay to be single.
It's okay to be single until you find someone who can match your loyalty than to settle with someone who is not faithful to you.
It's okay to be single until you find someone who can reciprocate your effort and not settle with someone who doesn't know your worth.
It's okay to be single until you find someone who can give back the same amount of attention you put out than to settle with someone whose attention is into someone else.
It's okay to be single until you find someone who can make the same amount of time you share and not just spend time with you when it's convenient to them.
It's okay to be single until you find someone who delivers the same level of honesty you give than to settle with someone full of pretty lies.
It's okay to be single until you find someone who tries to meet your expectations because they want to be the best man for you than be with someone who doesn't try at all.
It's okay to be single until you find someone who will support your dreams and aspirations in life and not settle with someone who doesn't have dreams and will just drag your whole life down.
It's okay to be single until you find someone who will love and respect you the way you deserve than to settle with someone who will only disrespect you.
It's okay to be single until you find someone who will accept all of your flaws and imperfections than to be with someone who will leave you behind once they see the imperfect side of you.
I hope you know that just because you are single at the moment, does not mean you are not good enough as a person. It is not because nobody feels the same way about you. It is not because you are bad at relationships or you don't deserve to be loved. It is not because there is something wrong with you.
It is because no one is ready for you just yet. It is because they are the ones who do not deserve someone like you. It is because you are not settling for just anybody who tells you that they care. It is because you already know your worth.
Yes, it does get lonely. Seeing other couples being happy together does not make it easier. Even seeing other couples argue may make you want to be in a relationship because the thought of having someone who cares deeply enough to fight with you and fight for you is what hits you.
I know you also want to make your own version of #RelationshipGoals.
But what's the hurry?
You are still young, and it is just not your time yet. Loving yourself and empowering yourself is what you need because otherwise you are always gonna feel that emptiness that you think only having someone can fill, but that is wrong. You have always been everything you needed.
Just be patient. He'll be here.
And while waiting for the right one for you, be the right person first. Improve yourself. Be the best version of yourself. Love yourself. Give yourself the love you deserve. Enjoy your season.
