Swallowed Her Words - Internet Infidelity Toot toot toot!!! This is a short but funny story from 2013 actually that I just stumbled upon. Let us start with the topic of cellphones, we can text message, can Yahoo message or Skype, Telegram and there are all kinds of text message apps to boot. Well, some people password lock their cellphones for personal security, and others hide things from their partners. Uh oh. Password protection is one option, and another would be to delete any old messages that may be incriminating.

Apparently, for a 19-year old Brazilian girl, that was a little too complicated. Her boyfriend had rightfully suspected she was cheating on him and wanted to view her cellphone text messages to which she decided the best thing to do was swallow her cellphone! That's right! The whole cellphone! The object appearing on the X-ray to have been stuck at the intestines apparently was causing some pain. No kidding and she was rushed to the hospital to save her life. The old saying for her: **"You can hide the truth, but it always comes out in the long run".**

Based on that story I came across the internet, makes me think about **Internet Infidelity.** **How To Know You Have Gone "Too Far"?** First of all, how do you define infidelity? `Infidelity :` `1. unfaithfulness: unfaithfulness or disloyalty, especially to a sexual partner` `2. unfaithful act: an act of unfaithfulness or disloyalty, especially to a sexual partner` `Microsoft® Encarta® Dictionary` What defines unfaithfulness? `Unfaithfulness:` `1. adulterous: engaging in sexual relations with somebody other than a spouse or partner` `2. untrue to commitments: untrue to commitments, duties, beliefs, or ideals` `Microsoft® Encarta® Dictionary` Had to do that so we do not have a President Clinton moment here: ***"I did not have sexual relations with that woman... my p**** was just in her mouth".*** LOL Sorry about that.

Okay, now that we have that established, can we say that flirting online is **"unfaithfulness"** or **"infidelity"**? Well, unless your spouse married you with a belief or an idea that dictates that's what they expected out of your marriage, then yes we can call it that. Of course, flirting can go further and turn into a whole other mess of issues (phone calls, video chat, video play etc...) I don't think it necessary to go into graphic details here. Why would someone engage in internet infidelity? (not to justify it) 1. Loneliness 2. Low self-esteem 3. Living in separate locations from the spouse 4. Lack of sex/romance in the marriage Now, what if (the unfaithful) you express your concerns to your spouse (items 1-4) and there is no change in their behavior, and they make no effort to work with you as a spouse should strengthen the relationship or misunderstanding? Are you now justified in being unfaithful? My opinion is NO. Funny and I will say this though- My husband is a very talkative Mr. Congeniality person and did advise someone once to be flirtatious online. After addressing the issues didn't work so they could show their spouse that others did appreciate them. Risky move! Why would he suggest such a thing? To make them jealous, to force them to take the issues seriously and step up to the plate and make a change. His suggestion worked inadvertently actually. His Facebook friend didn't try to do anything in their spouse's face, but by and by, their partner did start getting jealous of the internet and ended up hijacking their accounts, got passwords etc and started snooping around which led to a big fight as well as them working things out and the romance and appreciation returned. Funny how things turn out, huh? **How to avoid getting caught up in the web of inappropriate internet behavior?** 1. Realize you made an oath to God to be faithful to your spouse (this should be all it takes). 2. Have all your accounts (social networks and emails) open for your spouse to look at whenever they wish. This will definitely stop you cause you never know when they might look. Random thoughts this busy Monday.
