Little Things We Overlook That Can Make a Huge Difference.
At some point, I am sure most (if not all) of have wondered what is the secret of successful people is, what is the that extra thing they do that makes them different from most people? I remember when I read the book Outliers by Malcom Gladwell for the first time and it was really an eye opener for me. It is a book I strongly recommend for everyone.
Today, I will be writing about little things people do that can make a big difference in their daily life, and ultimately their entire life. I am not saying that I will be talking the secrets of successful people, but they are things that I have observed to make a big difference in my daily activities.
1) Waking up early
Personally, I like waking up early, asides from the fact that I am an early bird especially when it is a school night, I like waking up early because I noticed that when ever I do, the calm and quiet of the morning helps me gather my thoughts and gives room to plan my day. As a student, I also noticed that I assimilate better and when I read early in the morning after a good sleep, and I also have enough time to make myself a proper breakfast before leaving the house. Most times, we wake up quite late and while hurrying to leave the house, we may nit have the time to fix a breakfast or maybe even leave something important behind. Another benefit of waking up early is that our body adapts to our body clock, and if we have gotten used to waking up at a particular time, even on nights that we wake up late because of one reason or the other, we'd still wake up at that particular time that our body is used to.
2) Planning Your Day
Planning is an important habit, it helps you work within a template that you have set for yourself. I am a big fan of organising and scheduling things at specific time and even though it is sometimes difficult to stick to the mapped out schedule, it is a sign of discipline doing so. Planning prepares you and help you achieve your goals within a specified period. It also helps increase productivity as you go about your day.
3) Morning Exercise
As ordinary as this may sound, it is one of the 'ordinary' things that can help you improve your overall health. Exercising in the morning doesn't have to be something heavy, neither do you have to leave your house, there are home workouts you can do in your house, and are also as effective. According to an article I saw online, regular exercise can:
Improved concentration
Sharper memory
Faster learning
Prolonged mental stamina
Enhanced creativity
Lower stress
After reading the aforementioned, you can see how important regular exercise is, and how these benefits can help you on your day-to-day activities. I can attest to these benefits because I have observed them on days that I start my day by exercising.
4) Good Breakfast
You cannot overstate the importance of a good meal, and I say this because I am someone who skip breakfast on most days especially when going to class. I have personally observed that it is easier for me to focus and concentrate in class when I had breakfast before leaving the house in the morning. On days I didn't have breakfast, the thought of food pops in and out of my head time and again while trying to focus in class.
In conclusion, I have said that this is by no means a secret to success, but these habits can make a huge difference if we start doing or practicing them more often. Maybe they are all we need to unlocking the success we are chasing, how about we try it out and see what happens?
I think waking up early means a lot! But recently, I became a night person. I have been more focused on the tasks I do during the night, since morning means taking care of my nephews.
