Go green! I am green-minded. Are you?
This is my entry to ecotrain's question of the week.

I was actually planning to make a post about this once I am done with our Kalinga trip. There is one more post about it that I am supposed to write but then I read Jane's post about Ecotrain in hive. You can read Jane's post here.
I also posted that same video in my youtube account.
You can check out my post in hive.
Whenever I see destruction that is sugar coated as development, I always wonder what kind of future are we leaving for our kids if we continue to do what we are doing now.
All around us are construction. Here in our neighborhood alone, a dozen of houses were put up since moving here. More and more are being constructed every day.
When some residents of the city learned that a mall is going to be constructed here in the city, many protested for hundreds of trees perished. It turned out to be biggest mall in the city. When people learned about its plan of expansion, they protested again to no avail for the mall successfully carried out its plan.
When an owner of a private land (where thick trees used to grow) decided to cut those and built a hospital there, it was met with protests even the mayor was involved in filing a case against the owner to no avail.
Although we have environmental rules and laws that one must follow, those are just pieces of paper it seems for the law has no teeth or claws.
Owners of private land can do what they wish on their land.
These are just the bigger fish. How about the small pieces of lands being sold every day and in place were houses built? More and more lands are being sold in the city and the surrounding areas. These are the ones that are making a huge impact much more so than the malls or hotels or hospitals. A piece of land here and there sold every day until all the lands have no more trees and in place where man-made structures. Do you know the movie Lorax? Try to watch that for that is what is happening now. Soon not only food or gas or water will be scarce but also fresh air.
Every house built should have at least one tree planted. Every property should have trees in them. What causes flood? Landslide? Climate change? When mountains and lands are used to be barren of man-made structures, when it rains, water is absorbed by the earth. We created roads and canals and gutters so water can easily flow. No earth to saturate just free flowing water.
We keep building roads such that we want to flatten all mountains it seems. We weaken nature thus causing landslides and erosions.
What are the consequences of these actions? Death and destruction.
So the question remains, what kind of future will you want your children to grow up to?
Nakakalbo na talaga ang nature natin Lee at sana mn lang naisip din nila consequences ksi tayo din nmn napapahamak eh.
