Hah! Gotcha! What were you thinking, that's a title of a song. You don't believe me? Here, lemme give you a Youtube link.
This article is a response to the writing prompt of @meitanteikudo He wanted to know the latest tv series I've watched.
We subscribed to Netflix just recently because my husband and I were eyeing an Asian movie that we later found out was not available in Asia. Ironic?
I'm talking about A Writer's Odyssey, have you guys watched it?
We consulted Mr. Google on how to make Netflix allow us to access it. But we never tried any of the solutions because we were already overwhelmed by the whole lot of movies and tv series available.
Anyway, I tried the one series that I was hesitant to touch. The title shouts stay away, so I stayed away for too long.
I am referring to the tv series Lucifer. I thought it was about Satanism or some sort. Thank goodness, it wasn't.
I would assume that you guys have watched it, or even finished the five seasons. I'm still at Season 3, slowly going there because of my busy schedule.
But...this article is not about Lucifer, the tv series that is. Everyone knows about Lucifer anyway. I'm going to talk about a movie, since @jiroshin here bent the rule and tells a story of his favorite. Here, here's his link.
Actually, this is not what I watched recently, but this is my favorite. This is an old movie, released in 2012 and I would never get tired of watching it.
Imaginaerum is actually an album of Nightwish that was also made into a film. If you are not familiar with them, they are a symphonic metal band. Yup, I have this liking of ear-splitting music.
The movie is about an old man in a coma and travelling at the same time searching for his lost memories.
What I like about the movie is the surreal aspect of it. Walking toy soldiers, roller coasters in the clouds, talking objects. Things that don't make sense but have meaning when viewed in a different perspective.
To note that when you have read some of my articles, I have those with a surreal aspect. My fascination with it is apparent even in my writing.
Going back, the songs in the album with the same title were incorporated in the movie in a very creative manner. The tracks were incorporated so smoothly that it wouldn't feel like a Disney movie.
In fact one of my three favorite scenes was when the old man (in his boy form) got lost in a small bar. A lady wearing a striking red dress singing the song Slow, Love, Slow; thus the title of this article.
It was a favorite because of my mixed emotions in that scene. I'm not going to say anymore in case you're planning on watching it.
My second favorite scene was when two of the most tragic events of the old man's life played simultaneously in one room. History repeated itself and the scene reminded him of how he had pushed away his daughter in the time they needed each other the most.
And the most heartbreaking part was the ending where he finally woke up. He realized that the girl he kept on chasing was actually his daughter whom he failed to show his love to because of the trauma.
In his dying moment, his daughter was beside him and had forgiven him for not being a father to her. What broke my heart was the crying daughter who was so glad that her father remembered her name in his last breath.
I tried so hard not to cry during that scene. But my sister who was watching with me was a mess, she couldn't hold back her tears LOL.
So there…
I can't recommend it because this might not be one of your preferred genres. But if you'd like to try something different, come aboard to The Last Ride of the Day.
