Stressful Second Semester Says, "Here I Come!"
Ohayo, everyone! :)
Gaddd! It's been two consecutive days of that so-called "no published article." At the first day (January 27), I was in a bad shape because basically I am not "sick-proof." Haha~ while on the next day, I attempted to write one. Apparently, I suddenly got in a high level of bad mood that night. Moodiness, on.
And now that I have a free time and lighter to-dos, might as well grab the chance to do so. Actually, this article was inspired by mamsh @WanderingMedStudent's Second Semester Might Be The End Of Me. It's for the reason that even the classes for second semester hadn't yet officially started, I can already feel the extreme stress and exhaustion due to the overflowing and unending activities.
Do you believe that second semesters in college were more difficult than first semesters?
If not, maybe you should consider now. Because seriously, it is really difficult. Yes, both semesters are tough but second semester is like the "difficult level" in every spelling or quiz bees.
Second semester of Academy Year 2021-2022 in our university was supposedly begun by January 24 (Monday) but the higher ups announced that it was moved to January 26. However, the classes hadn't still begin that day. Because most of the courses and year levels has no Google Classroom invitations for the enrolled subjects yet.
I had shared a glimpse of my academic life for this semester in here: Three Semesters Left To Take. Wherein I mentioned that I enrolled 12 subjects for the semester.
The 12th subject is the AGRIC4400A_0 which is for the continuation of our thesis outline.
As I said, I need to take and must pass all this 12 subjects. What are they? Continue scrolling to know.
For the major subjects, I have three to take minus the Phytobacteriology (study of bacterias) last semester and these are:
PPATH 3305- Mycology (study of fungi)
PPATH 3310- Phytonematology (study of nematodes)
CPROT 3200- Beneficial Arthropods and Microorganisms
Can you still remember my field of major and specialization? It's Major in Crop Protection, Plant Pathology as specialization.
First, what is Crop Protection?
It's one of the field of Agriculture that's designated for studying all the pests infestating in agriculture. This are the weeds, insect pests, and plant diseases.
Crop Protection has 3 divisions such as the Weed Science for weeds, Entomology for insect pests, and Plant Pathology for plant diseases. And, I am in the division or specialization of Plant Pathology.
Here's a peak for what we are doing ib Plant Pathology:
In this specialization, we are studying uncountable plant diseases that are already discovered such as the rots, spots, curling, and all. Though, there's more that are still under studies. Aside from that, we should know how to both classify (identify) and diagnose such plant diseases and what organisms caused them like bacterias, fungi, viruses, nematodes, and more. With or without the use of microscopes. How to? Through the signs and symptoms. Though, they just similar but we should be careful with the diagnosis because the proper treatments was based on our findings. And, take note of lots of scientific names. Like Pectobacterium carotovorum, what's this? Well, that's soft rot of carrots. In identifying and diagnosing, we should always use the scientific term coz it varies from the plant and crops themselves and the present pathogen/s.
Some of the principles of Plant Pathology is similar to the Pathology for humans and animals. Though, our patients just differ nga lang. We have plants as our patients.
Okay, that's enough. Hehe~baka makulda kayo even though that's just a portion of the basics.
As per the minor subjects, I have both course-related and not.
Course-related minor subjects
AGRIC 3120- Basic Biotechnology
AGMGT 3120- Introduction to Agricultural Policy and Development (I can smell laws here huh, HAHA!)
AGRIC4400A_0- Thesis outline
Not a course-related minor subjects
PHILI 1100- The Life and Works of Rizal
SOCSCI 1110- Ethics
If you'll count them, that's just 8. But, my three major subjects has a respective laboratory classes aside from the lectures and on the Basic Biotechnology, as well. To sum up, that's 8 subjects + the remaining 4. And, that makes it to 12 subjects.
Why does the title of my article like that? Coz our Professors are already making an appearance. How ? Through GClassroom invitations.
It begun last January 27 when I received invites from 3 of my 12 Professors (Instructors, as well). Here comes SOCSCI 1110, PPATH 3310 (Lecture and Laboratory classes).
In PPATH 3310, my Professor is the well-known Doctor and College Dean in our department. He got a huuuuge brain as he finished not just one Doctorals but five (daw!). That explains why he's so great. That's why I'm somehow feeling so nervous with my thesis coz he's my thesis critic who had already made a loooot of studies about onion diseases which is the focus of my study. Hope that I won't be grilled and deep fried, haha!
On the next day, I got another invitation which is for PHILI 1100 or "Ethics."
For today, there's no invites naman. So far, I already have 4 out of 12 subjects joined in Google Classroom. 8 more to go and the war will about to start again. LOL!
Am I ready? Well, I guess so? Haha~ seriously, I don't know if I am ready or not yet. Though, my stuffs like notebooks, reading materials, pens, and etcetera are already here. But, my mind? Let's not just talk about it. :D
But, one thing is for sure. I'll be in so much stress this semester. Not just because it's "second semester", also with the number of my subjects. Hello? That's 12 po uy. 'Di man labg nabawasan kahit isa. Haha!
Still, let's do this! Even though how difficult, stressing, exhausting it may be? I'll make sure to surpass it without having failed grades and behind subjects next A.Y. So, I can still be a regular student and no to "warning" status. Let's do this, Future Agriculturist! 💛
