War Will Not Bring Order To The World: Russia and Ukraine
The war between Russia and Ukraine has been brewing since the 2014 annexation of Crimea, which was followed by a slow-burning separatist conflict in eastern Ukraine that has turned into a direct confrontation between Russian and Ukrainian troops. It is one of the biggest international conflicts of the past few decades, and it has taken many lives.
It is unclear what will happen next, but one thing is certain: war will not bring order to the world. The only way to end this conflict peacefully is through diplomacy. During the Russian war with Ukraine, we have seen the best and the worst of humanity. This time is a chance for us to take a stand against war, by taking steps towards peace. We can use this as a catalyst for change.
The move to peace
What needs to be done for peace? What can we do about the situation in Ukraine and Russia?
We need to speak up, and say 'No' to war. War will not bring order to the world. War will not solve any problems or answer any questions. It only brings death, suffering, and destruction. We can make a choice: life over death; love over fear; unity over division; building rather than destroying. We can choose to be strong. We can choose compassion and mercy instead of anger and aggression. We can put aside our differences and work together for the common good of all people, especially those who are suffering so deeply right now in Ukraine and Russia.
When we were children, our parents told us that we should speak up if we saw something wrong happening to another child—to say 'No' when someone is being hurt or bullied. That's what we need to do now as adults: say 'No', stop the violence, help each other find solutions that bring us together instead of driving us apart.
Do you want to say no to war? Do you want to take a stand for peace? If so, here are some ways you can do that:
Stay calm. In times of chaos it's easy to get angry and frustrated. It's important that we stay patient and calm in these times. When you encounter negative situations or people, the best thing you can do is be the bigger person and choose positivity over negativity. We need to listen carefully when others are speaking and make sure we understand their point of view before we respond or act on it.
Work together. It's important that we work together as a community during this time, sharing our knowledge and experiences with each other in an effort to come together—not apart—to make a change. Work together with others who share our values, interests, and goals; this includes people from all over the world who believe peace is possible even when it seems impossible at times like these.
Choose life over death. War is death; it's destruction; it's pain; it's suffering; it's heartache; it's loss; it's sadness; it's division; it's fear; it's anger...it doesn't have to be this way! Choose life over death today! Choose to speak up!
It's easy to forget that many of us live in a world of peace. It's easier than ever to get a war-front news feed, but the truth is that many of us live in a world where we can go about our lives without worrying about being attacked by a foreign power.
We don't have time for war—we have too much work to do! With endless innovations in science, technology, and social justice, now is the time for all of us to work together and build a better world for ourselves and for future generations.
I am praying for Russia and Ukraine to stand down and talk things through instead of going head-to-head. I am praying for our Ukranian and Russian brothers and sisters who are stuck in the middle of this terrifying conflict. May they stay safe and their wounds heal soon. I am also praying for the leaders of the two nations to have clear minds and pure hearts so they can talk it out and stop the war before it escalates even further. I am praying for everyone’s safety!
I know that many people are frustrated by what's happening, but war will not bring order to the world. We can do better than this!

I don't like the concept of war either. One country or group may win over the other but at what cost? I wish for world peace and I hope conflicts between countries will end soon.
