Cultural Awareness is Wealth | The Big Sick

I don't know who has an opinion about arranged marriage, but it is a tradition that has been going on for centuries in some cultures. In short, it is the introduction of two opposite-sex people, who do not know each other at all, by third parties for the purpose of marriage.

In countries where it is very common, parents dictate this tradition to their children even today. It takes superhuman effort to destroy a culture that has been going on for centuries. A great deal of love can also provide logistical support!

Naked and trying to get dressed, she needs an Uber taxi driver and sends a call…

…but the Uber driver is right in front of him, in bed and naked! The man she just made love to is an Uber driver.

The Uber driver, who is trying to take the girl he is making love to his home, and the girl who is a customer of the man's taxi, start talking about their relationship, which has only been a few hours since they started, and very interesting dialogues take place.

The couple, who made love for the second time on the second date, said "don't call me again" for the second time, then they meet again, again and again.

Even though I started the subject about making love, the movie contains comedy, romance and drama genres that can be watched as a family.

Without further confusion, let's get back to the beginning.

Kumail is a young man of Pakistani descent living in the United States. He has a conservative family. His family wants him to marry a girl from his own country and from his own faith… And it is the strictest rule for the girl he will marry to be a Muslim.

Kumail offers stand-up shows at a nightclub as well as being an Uber taxi driver. He meets Emily during a stand-up show one night.

The lovemaking and coincidence Uber call incident that I have described above are the scenes between Kumail and Emily. The couple is very sympathetic and presents interesting dialogues while displaying the culture of discussion quite well.

While watching, you may find yourself involved in their environment.

-Assalam Alaikum
+Alaikum Selam

This dialogue is a form of greeting in Islam. One greets and the other greets. It's hard to break people's prejudices about you, isn't it?

After the September 11 attacks, people who are understood to be Muslims because of their clothes or appearance are subjected to judgmental and disturbing visual and verbal harassment, especially in the West and in America. This is reflected in the film to some extent, but it is instructive with very smooth transitions and dialogues. Beliefs are the reflection of everyone's own spiritual value and are a bridge between the person and the values they believe in.

When you sit at the table for a good meal as a family, learning that your plate is not placed on the table is an expression of being expelled from the family.

So, what was done to be expelled from the family?

Kumail, a Pakistani teenager, fell in love with the American Emily.

How big a crime?

In fact, the subject in the movie is the kind that can strain some societies or family relationships, but it reminds us how important anger control is because it is handled with fun and smiling dialogues in the movie. You only think about the present moment, as the immersion feature makes it a part of the scene rather than arousing curiosity about the next scene.

I will not spoil your viewing pleasure any more. The movie has a duration of 120 minutes, this time I am not saying to prepare tea or coffee and go in front of the screen. When you think about it in terms of time, consider the possibility of getting hungry and go in front of the screen with snacks!

The movie, which was released on July 1, 2017 with the original name of The Big Sick, has 1 Oscar nomination, 18 different awards and 100 award nominations.

Directed by Michael Showalter, the film stars Holly Hunter, Kumail Nanjiani, Ray Romano, and Zoe Kazan.

I do not want to talk about the past films or acting of the actors because the character in each film is different and acting is performed according to the character.

You know the last covid epidemic that we have experienced. The word intubation, which we are familiar with with Covid, appears in the movie as well.

But I do not say how and for what purpose, and I exercise my right to remain silent.

Did you wonder?

The screen is yours! Enjoy watching!

Pictures are images taken instantly while watching the movie.

Seems like a nice movie to watch. It's may be funny but cultural differences still pose as a barrier to most relationships. I don't think it's a problem that will ever cease.

Time and changing generations solve this problem.

The genres I watch can vary depending on my mood on the day I watch it. It was a movie that I liked very much, according to my situation on the day I watched it, especially the conflicts between them were exhibited with a good dialogue.

According to religious views marriage is important because this is the thing that separate us from other animals.

I do not like arranged marriage and what if you are arranged to marry to a selfish person? I guess I would kill myself before the wedding day!

Nice movie recommendation, I might consider watching it @foryoubtc09

It would be the right choice to test every stage on the road to marriage, but not every life is the same, and death is not a solution to anything.

Good watching :)

There was a bit of this tradition in some sectors of our society in the Caribbean, but I think with time this has phased out and is no longer as prevalent as it was.

fixed marriage is really a culture of Chinese people. They are like protecting their wealth to others which is a very selfish one.

Arranged marriage is not a tradition of a country, but of places with a certain culture. It exists in my country, but it changes with new generations.

I wonder why they are so strict in culture laws and norms. Like, the world is changing and the past culture should ve evolving and developing too.

Not every tradition from the past will be accepted in our lives. The changing world will eventually erase the traditions that negatively affect life, but it takes time for generations to accept.

even now in our tribe, fix marriage is still alive, but what's the most disadvantage is they tried to fix the marriage of their young kids to those old man, like that man is the one to provide for that kid and made her grow.. The time that the parents of that kid agreed, she can live at that man's house, it is just so heart breaking to see the future of that kid is gone..

Even if it is an arranged marriage, the decision of both parties must be taken.

Yes, but how can a kid decide for herself, she had no Idea about it but her parents pushed her into that old man..
