Google is a multinational Internet and software company in the United States and world-renowned for its Google search engine, online advertising services, and cloud computing. It develops and hosts a number of Internet-based services and products.
Users will see a questionnaire by searching for 'Depression' on Google. After answering the questions, the person searching for depression can also see the level of his depression. Google is going to launch this feature very soon.
Tech giant Google and the US National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) are working on the project.
For the time being, users in the United States will be able to watch it, the BBC reports. If users type 'depression' in the search, a link will appear in front of it. It says 'Check if you are clinically depressed'.
Announcing the launch of the feature in a blog post, Nami said the test would not be seen as an alternative to the opinion of skilled professional doctors. The goal is to help people get the right help quickly.
After answering the questionnaire, the user will be able to assess their own level of depression. At the same time you will see the way to overcome depression.
But a psychologist says it seems like a terribly unnecessary idea.
Dr. Aaron Balik, a psychotherapist, said that if one searches for depression on Google, one may not find more useful information in this short diagnostic than the information that will appear in the search results.
