When I was young, writing a letter is our way of communicating our love ones who are in far places. We send it to the post office and we have to wait for a couple of days before it arrives to the person we are sending. Along with, we need to wait for another days to receive a reply from them. However, everytime we received a letter, we were very excited. We were very excited to read the message that is in the letter. I remember, I was the one who always wrote and read the letter. They found my penmanship more eligible than the rest and I was a good reader too even if I was in elementary.
When I was in high school, love letter was very trendy. It was the course of action in expressing someone's feelings. I admit I received letters from my suitors. But what I can't forget was the letter that I sent to my first boyfriend. I was second year high school that time. ( Yes, ang aga ko po lumandi.Lol) Technology was not yet that trendy during our high school days. My first boyfriend studied at a private school while I was in public. Thus, our way in communicating was through letters or sending a message through our friends. There was one time that I sent a letter to him. Our relationship was not a secret to my classmates. Since I am not used in mushy things before, I let my classmate wrote the letter. Later did I know, she used a lyrics of a song in writing. I still remember the title of the song. It was "Only Me and You" by Donna Cruz. My boyfriend that time didn't know the song, so yeah, he thought that the message was really from the heart.Lol
At the same stage of my life, I made a friend through letter writing. She was from other school. She always sees me everytime I go to school. One day, I received a letter from her. She said that she wants to become my friend. I responded her letter and that's how we became friends. She even sent me photos of her and I did the same too. We became pen pal and good friends too.
But when was the last time I wrote a letter?
If my memory is unerring, the last time I wrote a letter was when I was in college. It was a letter I made for my partner. It was Valentine's day and I had not prepared anything for him. I was thinking that he won't have do something for I was used on not celebrating a Valentine's. We also had a fight on that day so I thought that we would spend a normal day. But as to my surprised, he secretly skipped his class and went to the city and bought chocolates and flowers for me. Afternoon came, he called me and we went to the shore and he gave me the flowers and chocolates. I laughed hard because I realized that he did it on purpose to make me angry so he can carry out his plan.
I felt guilty that I didn't prepare something for him. I couldn't think of something nice and I was broke that time.( I was broke most of the time.Lol) I came up to an idea to write a handmade letter for him. So, I bought an stationary paper. I wrote a not so long message for him. At the end part of the letter, I composed a poem, a thank you poem for him. I snuck to his room and put the letter on his bag. When morning came, he thanked me for making a poem for him. He said that it was his first to received a kind of letter. I was happy too that he appreciates my effort.

In today's highly digital world, letter writing becomes obsolete. People are now using technology in communication as it is fast and hassle free. Writing a letter consumes much time and effort. But for me, handwritten letter is much more sweet and rewarding. According to Amanda Pagan, like photographs, letter capture a moments in time. It shows the emotions and thinking of the writer.
Writing a letter to someone can make you happy. That is supported by some research. I have read some research that writing a letter can make feel happier and satisfied.
