How are you doing, my dear friends?
We're so thankful that there were only minimal damages that the recent typhoon Paeng had brought in our place. We had power interruption for forty eight hours and the internet was only fixed this afternoon. I still have no idea about the actual situation at large.
Anyway, I'm glad that our citrus trees (Lemonsito) which are teeming with fruits were not ravaged by the raging storm including the other plants. Yet, we heard some branches crashing on the roof from nowhere at the height of the typhoon at around three o'clock of Saturday morning. I couldn't slept well that night because of anxiety. Thanks, God. Thanks for the prayers.
Now everything is going back to normal again after hours of cleaning away the debris.
I just hope that everyone is just alright. Keep safe. With prayers. 💙

'TINOLA' de Paeng
I cooked a simple 'Tinolang Manok' (chicken soup) for lunch to beat the rainy weather. I added a lot of moringa leaves since it is the most accessible and slices of leftover chayote .
I think I put so much water that the pot turned out like flooded. That explains the above title because Paeng the typhoon comes with a heavy rainfall. :-D

Bracing for the visit of Paeng.
Many of us are worried for the approaching of another typhoon named Paeng especially when its track has shifted southward according to the weather bureau.
I hope and pray that all of us will be spared from the forewarned calamity that it could bring. God forbid.
Meanwhile, I observed this little hibiscus from the garden its drenched white petals curled backwards as if preparing for the coming bad weather while maintaining its composure.

-Remembering MOYMOY-
Browsing on some snaps of Moymoy somehow perks up my gloomy afternoon while nostalgic moments with him lingers at the same time. He was the doggo of my nephew who resides now in Australia.
Moymoy was an affectionate pup who used to demand some cuddles when he's with us. Whenever he'd seen me sitting in my chair he automatically jumped unto my lap and peacefully laid there. Unfortunately, one day he accidentally met his tragic death when he got out the gate unnoticed. That was a couple of years ago.

I just had my lunch and the windy weather remains the same. The peering sun amidst the clouds seemed oblivious if he would show his full splendor or not.
I wanted to capture the sky directly but my attention was diverted to the reflection on the water in the plastic barrel. I took a few snaps and was fascinated by the results. The crystal clear water with a few moringa leaves floating on it added a different photographic touch.
Sometimes in life our own personal perception of things is the main root of our mess. Why not take it slow and be obliging to welcome a different perspective? Just a thought.

-For the Love of Pandesal-
Keeping my body fueled to energize for the first half of the day. I'm on my usual breakfast with Pan-de-sal and bread spread.
In the schools, the day is started with the communal singing of the Pambansang Awit. In the same way, most Filipino families start the first meal of the day with Pandesal, touted as the Pambansang Tinapay (National Bread).
Anyways, I had a good night sleep because of the cold weather. So I was up early to begin a new day's toil.

Where's the fish?
That was my ludicrous question to myself when I uncovered the pan to take some snaps at the newly cooked dish for lunch. It was a 'paksiw na isda' (fish cooked in vinegar) with extra vegetables.
I usually prefer a dish with some veggies for additional fiber. And I put into the recipe whatever available vegetable is in the pantry as long as it would not contradict the taste. By so doing, I avoid a thoughtless wasting of food.
(Anyway, I did not cook this one. 🤫)

The chicken soup is ready. Prepare your bowls, children.
I've got three pieces of patola (luffa) so I was inspired to make a chicken soup. Picked some clusters of moringa leaves, peeled a piece of carrot, unwrapped a pack of misua noodles, and chopped half a kilogram of chicken meat. The main ingredients were readied then proceeded to cooking my heart out.
A perfect dish to beat the rainy Sunday. 🍽

Three days ago the Jackfruit started to give off its strong musky scent a clear sign that it was already ripe. So, I cut it open to collect the yellow fleshy arils. I stored them in the fridge. Some of which I kept in the freezer because I love to eat them frozen. Unfortunately, I haven't tried 'em yet until this day for fear that they would trigger my colicky gut. I'll just get back on them later when I'm ready.
Somehow, I took some snaps for you to see. Besides, @Chucha was already asking about the jackfruit anyway. :D

Found my old typewriter covered in dust. This mechanical machine had been my buddy for years ages ago when computers were not yet on trend. I spent hours of practicing with it while I was enrolled in a summer lessons on typing during high school. Hence, I can type an average of 45 wpm until now. Not bad, isn't it?
Though typewriter looks so old fashioned it is still quite functional whether for personal and office work. I've seen this typing machine in some offices at present like when I went to the post office and a radiology clinic.
Have you ever experienced typing with this kind of machine?
📌 Fun fact: The word TYPEWRITER is generally considered the longest English word using only one row of the QWERTY keyboard layout.

Seriously I feel much better now than last night. When I woke up the first thing that comes to mind was my tummy. I did my morning toilet ritual. Oopps. (Sorry!) When I sensed that the pain is gone I decided to do my weekly grooming on my facial hair.
So, I present to you my toughest buddy for six years -- my personal trimmer. I never forgot to bring this stuff whenever I went travelling. Somewhat I became clingy with, huh.
Anyway, thanks to @anniemarie for her post about the haircut. That gave me the idea for this short article this early. Hahaha.

It's raining cats and dogs. Fortunately my food arrived before the downpour. This time I ordered Arroz Caldo with chicken from a known "lugawan" (restaurant that serves porridge or congee) in our place through a food delivery rider.
I love the consistency of this congee. It is so different from all others. I guess the cook added glutinous rice for that. There is also that crushed toasted garlic which was packed separately so, you'll have a choice to sprinkle them on top or not. Just perfect.
My first mouthful is dedicated to the Arroz Caldo lovers out there. The second one is for the generous donors among you. :-)

My sister-in-law just sent me a graduation photo of my handsome nephew. He successfully completed the degree of Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the School of Engineering at York University. Hooray!
They are currently residing in Toronto, Canada with his two siblings (also intelligent boys) together with his mom and dad (my younger brother) for more than a decade now.
So happy for his new milestone and for all of them. Wishing this young man all the best.

For upset an stomach.
I am experiencing an upset stomach since the other day. So, I just bought something hot from the nearby home-cooked food seller. I found this fish sinigang (sour soup) for about 50 pesos per serving ($0.8). It's not bad, just as practical and economical nowadays.
I haven't started my lunch yet when the gray sky bursts open with its heavy downpour. So happy because my rainwater reservoir is filled with water once again.

-Calabash Fuit-
Is it really a miracle fruit?
I checked again the fruit of our Calabash plant. It has grown markedly in size in just a month. From the young bulb (second pic) to the bigger one (first pic) it's now 58 centimeters in circumference. That is quite fast. There's a couple of them actually, the very first fruit is hidden but I managed to take a snap of it somehow (see the third photo).
I reproduced this plant from the stem cuttings which were given by a priest friend from Mindanao. All the three cuttings have successfully grown but decided later to cultivate only one tree since they occupy a great space in the yard. What remains is the one planted beside our old tiny nipa hut in front of the main house.
For the time being I don't have any plans as to what I gonna do with these fruits. I've been hearing many good things about them yet, I need to do more research on their medicinal values.
For the meantime, I just content myself on beholding with awe upon these green round fruits that are as big as my head.
Do you know/have any firsthand info about this touted 'miracle fruit'?
