Another late "food for the soul article" but then I would still push it through for I believe there's no late time in hearing and pondering the beautiful words of God, words that gives eternal life. Even with doubt but I would still continue this draft rather than doing nothing at all. I know it's the second time around that I had lapses writing my "food for the soul article " every Sunday due to circumstances we couldn't control. I should have give you reasons but then I choose not to, for it would not validate my lapses. Still, validation would not erase the fact that I commit lapses therefore I would not validate myself to escape the lapses I made. We're like that, consciously or unconsciously, we make validation in order to cover our lapses. Still, accept it or not, it's lapses.
Anyways so much for that let's continue to our food for the soul article. Before reading the reflection let's first read the yesterday's gospel.
Holy Gospel
John 6:60-69
After hearing it, many of his followers said, 'This is intolerable language. How could anyone accept it?' Jesus was aware that his followers were complaining about it and said, 'Does this disturb you? What if you should see the Son of man ascend to where he was before? 'It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh has nothing to offer. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. 'But there are some of you who do not believe.'
For Jesus knew from the outset who did not believe and who was to betray him. He went on, 'This is why I told you that no one could come to me except by the gift of the Father.' After this, many of his disciples went away and accompanied him no more. Then Jesus said to the Twelve, 'What about you, do you want to go away too?' Simon Peter answered, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the message of eternal life, and we believe; we have come to know that you are the Holy One of God.'
Reflection
Yesterday's gospel moved me so much for it reflected so much the nature of a human. If we could look back there were a lot of people following Jesus because of his miracles and wonders but since the faith of the people wasn't deeper enough to understand the reason why they were following him they have started complaining in this gospel we have here. They couldn't accept the facts and the reality of Jesus words, that his flesh and his words could bring people to eternal life and salvation thus the people departed themselves and stop following Jesus. Here, our true nature is reflected so much. WHEN WE COULDN'T FIND REASONS TO STAY, OUR LOVE, OUR TRUST -EVERYTHING ENDED FOR US, AND WE LEAVE. WHY?
Because our love, our trust, our reasons is not rooted deeper in us thus it changes when emotions changes. We leave because we couldn't find the reason of staying, we leave because we are not happy, we are no longer feeling the butterflies flying in the stomach. We leave because we couldn't see the effort. We couldn't feel we're cherish. We couldn't find the passion, the emotions.
Therefore this gospel reminded us that
The human reasons couldn't explain all emotions, the love, the trust, everything. Thus when reasons end, faith begins. When we couldn't see the reason of all the happenings around us let us have faith to the Almighty Father in heaven who have given us everything in this life. For if we based everything in this world, in this life with human reasons then we couldn't fully gasp and understand the meaning of life. If the Lord gave us the full understanding then we will depend on it and would no longer need him. But this wasn't the case, the Lord didn't gave us this because if he will, we will no longer needs Him. Isn't this even possible? Imagining your life without the goodness of the Lord, could you? How's your life if that's the case? Without the Lord giving you life? Without the free air you breath every seconds and minute of your life? Without the gifts and graces you have received? Such as the family that loved and cared for you? The health? The gift of friends? The opportunity to study? To have shelter to stay, food to eat and clothes you wear? How about the continued blessings even if you have sinned a lot? How about still waking up in the morning even if you have not giving thanks of all your blessing before sleep? How about still eating and buying all you want even with all the pandemic today? I tell you, how about if we let our own reasons and understanding in those I mentioned above? If we put the Lord God's understanding to our understanding. He could have stop giving you graces and blessings. He could have not let you wake up because of your ungratefulness. He could have let you out of breath because he could stop giving you free air because of your cruelty and greed. He could have, right? Just like what we -humans do. But because God has so much faith in us. That we could change, that we could have faith in him no matter how life bring us difficulties because he is with us. Because he never let us, alone in this life he had given to us.
Then my dear brothers and sisters in Christ let us not just hold on to our own understanding because not everything could be explain in our own understanding. When we could no longer understand the reasons and could no longer find reasons, still let us continue with faith. Faith to the Lord God in Heaven that he would not leave in our side. Let us have faith that he will be with us no matter what happen thus we must endure. Thus we must have faith.
