Early AC/DC morning - R.I.P. Bon Scott and Malcolm Young
Chasing through my Mountain collection this morning.
Strong on guitar this morning as I spin my way through several Ted Nugent albums.
Christians go around getting things that offend them banned, then complain when something of theirs gets banned because it offends other people. Of course, they are not the only group that does this, but they are certainly the noisiest. Why can't people seem to comprehend that how other people choose to live - or believe - is actually none of their damned business?
A black light is not black, it is deep purple. And Deep Purple is one of my favorite '70s bands.
Kid (who says on his profile he is 19) joins a site today and immediately posted a discussion most likely (93%) AI written. I sent him a PM telling him AI writing wasn't allowed, he sent a message back saying he wrote it. Then sent me a second message saying he had earned $50000 in the site since 2008. Now, other than the fact his profile clearly shows he joined today, even if he had been a member since 2008 that would mean he was 4 years old when he joined. lol And there is no one that has made that kind of money at myLot. lol Scammers gonna scam I guess.
On an Aerosmith listening kick this morning
I really do not understand why I spend all this money for a cell/mobile phone simply for the privilege of receiving spam calls (I don't use a phone for internet and I have no desire to, I use my desktop). But sure as anything if I got rid of it one of my siblings would die or another catastrophe of some such proportions would occur and there I am out of contact. Maybe I should get a new landline number when the new area code set to overlay my present area code takes effect. Spammers shouldn't have that programmed yet. I guess I ought to call them (my 'net provider) and find out how much extra my 'net bill would be with phone added.
You don't get something like this very often. Out of the several thousand vinyl records I have owned over the years, only 4 of them have had sides that 'never end' - the last song on one of the sides gets recorded all the way through to the end groove so that it keeps playing until you pick up the needle from the record. On this Rush album, it is the last song on side 1 (By-Tor and the Snow Dog) - the bells at the end of the song continue ringing as long as the needle is on the record. "Yes darling, I'll take the trash out just as soon as this side finishes playing."
2 AM on a Sunday. I almost said "2 AM on a Sunday morning" but then realized the redundancy there. But yeah. So anyway, I was thinking today that no, I really don't like most people. I used to enjoy people and liked most of them, but that was long long ago in a galaxy far far away...or, at least, back then I was 'polite' and didn't tell people how stupid some of the stuff they do is. But some time in the last 10 years the modulator in my semiwhatsis stopped modulating and suddenly I found the freedom to actually express my thoughts and to hell with people that didn't like it. Well - that turned out to be most of them. lol I'll tell ya what, my weed lasts me a LOT longer than it used to. #TrueStoryBro
I did not really know as I knew how to make scalloped potatoes but I got on this tater thing the other day and layered a bunch of stuff in a casserole dish and baked it and after I was done and talking about it someone said "Why that is scalloped potatoes" and I allowed as I did not like scallops and weren't no scallops in it and they told me that was not what it meant so I said "Okay" and I guess they are scalloped potatoes but I call 'em Scalped Taters. So I made another batch today just to see if it was a fluke or if they actually did taste as good as they tasted the first time and yes indeed they sure do.
'moci 😻 rounded up this Wood Frog in the front yard this morning.
Amazing what a person can do if a person knows what they are doing. Most people would have said the records in the second photo were not salvageable but they would have been wrong.

I normally will not buy copies of an album I already own - but not all records sound the same. Different pressings can have vastly different sound qualities, and Chickenfoot III is a great example of it. I originally bought the red (US) release when this came out, but was fairly unhappy with the sound, extremely flat and lacking any type of 'presence' to it. So several months later, I came across the blue (European) release for sale and decided to buy it and see if it was any better - and the blue is all I'll play now. Meanwhile, I can't really sell the red, because in between I had gone to see them live in concert and got Sammy Hagar to autograph the album jacket, so it is a permanent part of the collection now.
Some of these vinyl albums look pretty cool. Had this live Sammy Hagar album out playing it earlier this afternoon.

3-LP vinyl set Tool - Fear Inoculum 3 albums but only 5 sides of music, the 6th side is an unplayable laser etching (2nd photo).

Still alive and kicking. And to whomever sent me 20 cents here yesterday, thank you (pretty sure I know who it was).
Some days it takes a lot of music to start the day right...
Spent most of yesterday chasing after a shot of one of these. It is mating season for many birds here, and I had three or four Red-Headed Woodpeckers calling from high up in the tree canopies but they were all shielded from view by the leaves. I finally just parked myself on a bench in the front yard with my camera and waited - and then waited some more, because I kept hearing them. Finally one decided to land in an area I had a clear view of and I snapped off several (like 50 of them) with my DSLR and a telescopic lens. These things get pretty loud when they are looking for a mate.

But this getting older shit sucks. Trying to find a day where my legs and arms are working properly AND days where the lawnmower and weed whacker and chain saw and all are working properly ain't like it used to be - I want to get everything done on the days where everything works - but those days only pop up once or twice a week, and then if it's raining, well... So I ALMOST have the property line cleared of honeysuckle and all the other 'trash' plants invading the yard - maybe two more 'good' days and I'll have it done. But today it ain't happening. Today is simply listening to tunes.
I almost wanna be real here for a minute and let it all hang loose but instead I shall continue to present this veneer. But if I WERE perchance for some bizarre reason to choose to expose the soft underbelly of my life, would that really matter? No. Of course not. This is online. Every idiot has a voice. Mine is simply part of a sea of voices, all but indistinguishable from another. But drop by the house some day and I'll tell you all about it. May 10th, 2023 11:50 A.M. I've never seen it happen before here, and I'll likely never see it again, but I was lucky enough to be shooting photos out in front of the house when three albino squirrels showed up at the same time. May 7th 2023 Rainy Sunday morning Somewhere in southeastern Illinois USA
Heavy turtle traffic in the yard today, a pair of male Eastern Box Turtles, one in the back yard and one in the side yard. (2 photo sets) I thought the one headed for the brush pile was the same one I'd seen earlier, but when I looked the first one was still where I had seen it at. Enjoying some spin time with the turntable this morning. Kiss - Creatures of the Night Santana - Abraxas Scorpions - Blackout Nothing cranked up loud, but sounding real nice regardless.
I had almost given up - my favorite part of spring is when the annual spring migration of the Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks comes through the area, which usually starts during the last week of April. Well, I've been expecting them since round April 26th, which is (within a day or two either way) when they normally first appear. And I've been waiting - and watching - and waiting - and looking - and nope, nada. Then this morning FINALLY the first traveler dropped in for a bite to eat. YouTube link is a video of it feeding at the bird feeder this morning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMT-wFMVv5E
Quiet Sunday morning waiting for the yearly appearance of the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (a type of bird) - they are late this year, usually I've been seeing them for around a week by now. But it got too quiet, so I had to make some noise.
Heck yes! I love it when I am actually ready and a 'rare' bird comes to the feeders. This Red-Headed Woodpecker showed his face a few times yesterday, but the only shots I got were through glass that needed cleaned, and with my smaller point-and-shoot camera. This morning, I caught just a glimpse of it, so I got my DSLR ready and a few minutes later BOOM! it reappeared and I started snapping. This is only the third time in almost 9 years (I moved into this house in late June 2014) I have gotten a chance to photograph one of these. I think these four shots clearly convey the beauty of this bird.

This Saturday Morning update brought to you courtesy of the letters m, a, r, i, j, u, a again, n, and a again!
Nice surprise for me this afternoon, only the second time I have captured photos of a red-headed woodpecker and I've lived here 9 years now.
I made a very interesting discovery this morning - spiders are a LOT more terrifying when they LOOK at you. I snapped several photos of this one earlier and I'd scanned through about a dozen when suddenly one with it staring at me popped out and about made me have to change underwear. lol
