She ran the moment the clock showed 6:30pm. She was supposed to be in the River Plaza by that time but the nine to six calls for an extended wrap-up meeting. Sometimes it happens when you have something planned for the night, the nine to six mocks you and says, "You got plans after work? Oh, no you don't!" So that happened. The River Plaza would have been a five-minute ride from her office building but because she came out of the building right when everyone else in the other buildings was going out and racing to get their rides home, she was doubtful she can get a ride. Well she can if she pushes everyone.
Without much thinking she ran the 1.5 kilometer distance from where she is to where she has to be. It is pretty much half of her mileage during her jogging days so it was supposed to be easy. But maybe not if you have your laptop bag and your camera with you.
She was out of breath when she reached the River Plaza. She was there the other night and she was able to talk to one of the musician buskers who agreed to let her in on their story because she wants to do a little write up on them. Thankfully, he agreed.
She arrived just in time when he was about to play his first song. She was aiming to cover hopefully their setup, but she missed it. She will just make up for the shots during their pack up instead. She quickly turned her camera on to take videos.
As most days or nights, the buskers will start with no audience and then middle of their playing, the audience builds up. He starts playing "La Vie En Rose" and singing to it as well.
You best be visiting these lovelies :) They have wonderful stories!
On the second verse, she was surprised to hear a saxophone play along. She looked around to spot where the sax was coming from and took a shot. The mix of both instruments fill the air and everyone who were supposed to be busy slow down with their gaits and turn around to the direction of the music.
They did a second round of the same song. After that they proceeded with "Let's take on the world". The music played on with a few cheerers in the crowd now.
Later on the guitarist asked the audience for some requests and they did well - both the sax and the guitar. Then they later topped the night with a Michael Jackson's Billy Jean and it was a rave!
She did get a lot of shots that night. From the smiling crowd to the musicians and others dancing to the tune or singing with them. It was a moment of fun. She did get her stories from the musicians as well - what made them decide to become street musicians, including some sensitive topic like if it is the only thing they do for living, when did they decide they wanted to do it, etcetera.
It was a heartwarming night just because someone had it in them to make the world smile through music. They may not have enough coins to bring home with them but knowing that they have made some people's night lighter through the show, they are feeling super with it.
...Or so I imagine. I am yet to really have a chance to talk to at least one. I always love seeing buskers. What's their story? What made them decide to be?
They really play good with just their instrument and their other thing-a-ma-jigs (repeaters, midis, etcetera). They put in a better version of the pop songs they play. They have better rendition sometimes.
Some even play their local instruments (I think) that I have no idea what it's called.
I wonder what it's like to see or be part of Fête de la Musique.
Some facts I have learned so far is that some cities do not just allow musicians they have to have permits. That surprised me. Hahaha. I thought they can just pull out their instruments and start playing and belting out whichever songs. That they also have groups.
Anyways, I just happened to browse through my photos and piled these up. It would be nice to come up with some story of some sort one of these days.
So, do you like seeing street performers? Not confined to musicians though. In some areas I see the robot-statue, mimers, etcetera.
Good evening dear read-itizens! Monday is ending .. yey! That is one day down and four more days to go before the week to the end! How is your Monday?

Parang wala kasi masyado dito sa atin kung hindi yung mga bulag lang ang nakikita ko simula bata ako eh. Pero sa mga movies parang ang saya nga makakita ng ganyang street performers tapos biglang andoon din si the one. Ayiiie. Kilig ako. Hahaha 🥰
