Hi there, fellow readers! How are you doing? I thought tonight we will have a break from the nasty rain but I guess the tanks up in the clouds are again filled to brim and water is overflowing. I hear the flow of the water from the roof and down to the ground. It is supposedly relaxing. That is what flowing water does, right? But somehow if it is rain and that from someone else's count, more than five days raining, it is no longer relaxing. It is already disconcerting or worrisome.
But if you hear the sound of the water flowing in a river, that's exciting. If you hear the water from a fountain, that is also relaxing. When you have gone for a hike and hear the monstrous sound of the waterfall, that is even grand! That makes the hike less tiring and your gait will probably even quicken to finally get to see the water fall.
Before I go on further.. check these awesome beautiful people and their works too.. You will love it!
There is something about chasing waterfalls that make me want and not want to do it. Most falls will really require a long walk or a hike. I am always grumpy in the middle of that long walk and hike. But then again I must admit to myself that when I see the falls, I am all smiles. Some kind of a Jekyll and Hyde thing. Lols. Scratch that.
I know two falls though that do not require tedious effort to see them and enjoy them. There is Pinsal Falls in Santa Maria which we visited after we went to Kaparkan Falls. From the main road, I think you can just take a trike and you will get off right where the falls is. I will try to pull up the image, I passed through it a while ago I just did not think I might be using it for this one.
Then there is this one. Daranak Falls.
When you see this beauty, this water (sorry the image does not do it justice seriously), what do you do? You jump right in, right?
Daranak Falls is in Tanay, Rizal Province. What brought me to this place.
It was one of those city holidays. It fell on a week before one of my travel buddy's birthday (an excuse) and I am up for a little road trip. Normally, there's three of us travelling. Unfortunately, our other buddy is reporting to a different city. She is not on a holiday.
Another reason I thought of was, I want to check the bucket list in my Where To Next planner. So a local city's holiday is a perfect time for that one - it is a weekday, and the other city people will be at work, meaning no crowd.
So we drove up to the direction of Rizal Province. My only list then was Pinto Art Museum. If we have time, we can randomly select wherever to go. We spent a lot of time there taking pictures and staring at the paintings. After that, I remembered they also have "Hinulugang Taktak" which is a seven-minute drive from Pinto Art Museum. So we decided why not check it out. That part though, was disappointing. As at that time, the water is dirty and it has stench.
We searched for another place to go. Options were the Pililla Wind Farm or Daranak Falls. Either way, there is a big chance we will not be able to arrive before they close but we took a chance on Daranak Falls. That way, should we have the chance to revisit Rizal, we already know how to go there. Besides we do not have change of clothes. So we are most likely just going to go look.
It was a long travel of an hour or more factor in the traffic and the possibility of getting lost. But we arrived in front of the entrance to the falls in time for their closing. People were leaving and the guards were already leading them out the gate. One by one, their vehicles all pulled out of the parking lot.
I was thinking , "So much for trying but at least we know".
My friend though, walked towards the gate. Some voodoo gesture to the guard and she said, "we'll just look around and be right out."
The voodoo-ed guard let us in without asking for entrance fee. Besides they were already closing, right?
The area is already developed. The pathway going there is cemented. A bridge made it easier to cross the terrain even. This below is the view from the bridge going to the falls.
Then this after the bridge.
And then this.
We were taking pictures. Then I heard a splash. Clothes on and all, my friend jumped in. We were laughing and careful at the same time so as not to get caught. What will you do, right? I jumped in as well.
Then after a minute or two, we decided it is time to go.
We went out through the gates, dripping. The guard seems a little voodoo-ed stunned still.
That was a good wrap up for a little road trip.
According to our friends in the office we were lucky to chance on the falls with that color. Normally, they say, it is brown and crowded. We told them what we did and we all laughed about it.
That is how we "looked around".
You reached this far and I salute you!
Thank you so much for taking time to read. :D
