I Forced my Daughter to Pursue my Dream As a mother, what matters most to me is the happiness of my child. It is important to me that she enjoys what she is doing and loves it. But there was a time that I made her do something that she did not want to, but I insisted on it because I thought she would like it in the long run. And I have been dreaming of being one of them when I was young. lol! So I made her do it to fulfill that dream for me. I am guilty. Yeah, I know. But at some point, I know that it helped her build confidence and believe in herself. -- When I was young, I wanted to be a majorette. I fancy wearing the costume, the short skirt, and the fancy make-up. How they doll up themselves before performing in front of the crowd. But because I am not qualified to be one, it remains just a dream. So when my daughter was in fourth grade, the school had this drum and lyre corp that needed majorettes and needed to perform for the competition every year in the Sinadya sa Halaran festival here in our city, so I told my daughter to give it a try. She did not like it. She told me that she had no guts to perform in front of the crowd. But I kept on convincing her, telling her that she would not perform alone because there would be other majorettes that would perform together with her. After weeks of persuading her, she finally auditioned for it and passed. I was the happiest, lol! For me, it's like a dream come true, and, of course, an achievement for her.
`They were invited to perform in other school in this photo. My daughter is second to the right` She had a hard time in training at first. She is not used to dancing in public, so every time they practice, she is always being mentioned because she lacks grace and is mostly left behind. And it frustrates me, lol! So I was like, "What are you doing?" I'll deal with you later when we get home! LOL! Yeah, I know, I am being harsh because I forced her to do it because it was my dream, and I admit it.
`This was taken when they won 2nd place in Bombo Radyo and Star FM's Handog sa Capizenos in Halaran festival` But in the long run, she enjoyed it. She gets excited when there's a practice. She can now follow every dance step and direction their teacher taught them. She loves dancing even more. Even in our house, she kept on practicing, especially the baton twirling. She was good at it. She even told me that she never thought that she was good at dancing. That she has a talent for dancing.
`Taken when she's in seventh grade.` She was a majorette at their school from fourth to seventh grade. Every parade, every competition, I was there, supporting her all the way. I feel so proud to see her perform confidently and see how she gets to enjoy every moment of it. I know that I forced her to do it at first, but I am happy that she embraced it because it helped her build her confidence. Helped her to know her true self and believe that she can do anything if she sets her mind to it.
She stopped performing when she reached 8th grade because, according to her, they only perform when there's an event in their school. They do not compete, unlike other schools. And I let her be, and besides, it's magastos din, hahaha! But that did not stop her from dancing and performing in front of the crowd.
`This was taken at their school's acquaintance party, grabbed it from the school's gallery.` -- Forcing your dream to your child is a big NO, I know that. But I am glad that my daughter somehow embraced it and loves it in the long run. I even asked her before if she regretted her decision in giving in to what I want. She said no, and that she was happy that I made her do it. So I just got lucky with my daughter. -- Date Published: March 12, 2022 All photos are mine unless stated otherwise.

Big no tlga te..
Need pakinggan both sides para magkaintindihan..
Di naman forced to kasi she enjoys it too. Habang bata we can ask them to try different things dn para malaman nila kung ano dn ang passion nila. Talenet is genetic dn naman so di ka na dn magtataka kung magsayaw din sya. Tapos magsayawan kayong dalawaaaaaaaa
Hehehe..
You are just convincing her.
Dati kasi sobrang mahiyain yan eh.
I am also the who love taking part in school events but unfortunately don't have pics to show
The achievement of a child is the greatest achievement of the parents. The things we did not achieve during our times can be realized through our children and we're happy for that.
Yeah, but forcing them to do it is stil a big no.
Not all times cguro friend.
Walang problema friend. Salamat
Salamat din sis..
It’s okay kung nag eenjoy siya. Pero once na di na and she disagree. Bawal natin pilitin kahit na sabihin natin na parents tayo. All we can do is support them basta nasa right path sila.
Thankfully your daughter enjoyed it as well. Of course, it's normal for her to feel shy as she was not used to it. But look at her majorette journey, she reallly had fun.
Yup, she did had fun and met different people..
It's good that she is exposed to different experiences as a child for it will shape her for whoever she will be in the future. But it's even better to listen to what they want so she will find her passion and master the craft as early as the moment she realize what she actually want.
Yes, i knew that, that is why i asked her if she regretted doing it. But she said no and loves it, otherwise, i'll be totally devastated on forcing it to her.
I had that dream before madam, pero never naging true haha
Ako madam. Eh pinagaw ko s anak ko. Buti naman at nagustuhan at naenjoy nya, hehe.. Si Adrielle mdam, pwede yan, hehe
It's good that your daughter enjoyed it. Siguro nag explore na rin. May kakilala ako, nagrebelde yung mga anak kasi pinilit ng Mommy na kunin nila yung courses na gusto nya which is very wrong as you said.
Thank you😊
Your daughter is so beautiful my friend. It's actually nice idea that you expose her to stuff like that, it will build her confidence.
Thank you sis..
Exposure will surely boost her confidence once she'll face the real world in the future lods.
Haha
At least sis kahit parang naforced mo siya eh it the process nagenjoy na siya. She even want to perform in front of the people, at talagang mukhang naenjoy niya kasi Somali siya sa mga dance kahit hindi pagkamajorette diba.?
Pero ate at least diba in the long run nga eh mukang naenjoy ng anak mo iyan.
May nlng madam kay nagustohan niya kay if dili, burden jud to for her. Hehe
Good thing ate na she enjoys it and didn't feel any regrets after all. And so true, parents shouldn't force their children to do things against their will. The parents are should be the one to guide their kids to the choices that they want.
