Purple Hearts

Last night I watched the movie titled "Purple Hearts". It's a cure for my FOMO. People on Facebook have been blabbering about how good the movie is. I'm glad that finally last night I found the time. I can't stand watching a Korean series as I easily fall asleep. But with movies, I can manage to watch them in one seating.
My roommates have finished a lot of Korean movies yet I couldn't start even a new one.
The storyline is unique. It's not a typical love story but it's not worth the hype for me. It didn't make me cry just like what More Than Blue did. Maybe because love wasn't evident in the first part and the process. I'm looking forward to more. It feels like I was left in the air hanging. Nonetheless, the movie is moving. It's enough to touch the heart of many, making the viewers miss their lovers.
I liked the characters though and the songs embedded in the movie. I liked that the leading man is a soldier and the lady is an artist.
The movie portrays a scenario that serves as evidence that humans could go a long way to cling to means that will give hope for survival. We could go a long way in saving ourselves even when it means sacrificing our love. The characters married each other to save themselves from their respective financial problems. They didn't marry out of love. The silver lining is that they have found love with each other while they are married.
It seldom happens in a Filipino setting. Most Filipino couples marry out of love even against all odds. Also, Filipinos rarely appreciate health insurance. At least in my vicinity. I tried enlighting some friends about the value of it but they would doubt thinking that it's a scam.
Both of the lead characters are practical and wise. They were able to use their edge for their benefit. In the end, they both won and have found love with each other.
Unlike in real-life scenarios, wherein some couples would marry without being in love, they just end up hurting each other. One party would surely be bruised while the other moves on.
For the characters in the movie, it's a win-win situation. I hope that every one of us would learn to consider ourselves first before our partners. Thereby, having a win-win case in a relationship too may it be out of love or not.
