"Through the fire
To the limit, to the wall
For a chance to be with you
I'd gladly risk it all
Through the fire" - Chaka Khan

That was me singing with Alessandra de Rossi while watching `My Amanda" in Netflix. As usual, I am as always late watching what was trending in most social media. I stumbled upon heaps of post about this movie in Facebook a couple of weeks back, but only able to watch it yesterday. Mind you, it's a beautiful and touching story that perhaps most of us can relate at one point in our lives, though it has a sad twist at the end of the story, still a good movie to watch.
It was indeed relatable, been once in the shoe of Piolo years and years back. I used to have a guy bestfriend that I happened to like and love, however I have chosen to keep "us" as bestfriends. Moreover, we're still good friends until now communicating through Messenger from time to time. We have our separate lives far from each other. Unlike in the movie, they had endured life together through thick and thin. I admire their closeness yet conscious of their boundaries.
Meanwhile, while Alessandra sings "Through The Fire" trying to manage her nerves on the pain of labor and delivery, I heard a loud explosion in the neighborhood. I went outside and was surprised to see black smoke and huge fire two blocks away from our house. It was a terrible disaster, for the next 6 hours I've seen firetrucks passing by the street, the fire destroyed 43 makeshift houses at the seaside.
The fire broke at around 1.30pm after lunch, from one of the houses on that densely populated area. The fire fighters had a difficulty stopping the fire because this happened near the sea and the wind surges the fire to other neighboring houses. Thus, affecting a total of 43 miserable homes.
In the distance, my nephew can see both lamp and electrical posts burning, watching it made him worry more that he could no longer play his favorite "Call of Duty" online for some time. Oh well, kids!
Late afternoon, my sister and I went for a walk along the sea shore going to the area of the fire. Around 4pm, we can still see firemen extinguishing the fire, some men in the neighborhood were carrying buckets of water from the sea to help too. I've seen displaced families, piling their saved belongings at the beach front. There are television and computer sets, pillows, blankets, sofa, tables, laptops and a lot more in the open, while I pray for the rain to pour down and help stop the fire, I'm distraught from the fact that they needed shelter before anything else. Some women were crying and their agony is heartbreaking to see. Even the barangay officials were perplexed on how to console the affected families.
We lost power for like 4 hours that afternoon, it was restored before night time though, thank God! It's hard to work at night without light. Unfortunately, the internet didn't came back, there must be a big damage in the main line. It came back just this morning before I finished writing this article.
At the moment, there has been a campaign in our community to help the families affected, donations like essential goods, food, money, used clothing and other necessities are welcome. At home, we are gathering some of our used clothing, blankets and kitchen stuffs that we can share to our neighbors.
I'll end it here, and I hope you'll take extra care in your homes and anywhere you are my friends in the virtual world.
God bless us all! Xoxo β€οΈ
