I saw something funny in my social media account and wanted to share it on noise cash too but I stopped myself. It was a politically inclined funny post. Some people might get offended and such so of course I just didn't post it. I shared it on another writing site that is censorship free. And then I posted how I stopped myself from posting it in noise.cash. Voila! I also thought of freewriting this article. 😄
Both in read cash and noise cash, there are rules on what can be written and posted. These rules include not posting or sharing about extremism, calls to violence, porn, fighting others or hate-filled content and such. If one dares to post such a thing and someone reports it then it may cause us to not receive any BCH in the future. Or the content will definitely be removed.
Thus we come to self-censorship, we stop ourselves from posting anything extreme that others might find offensive. Freedom of speech should not mean we use it to hurt other people with our words.
Censoring ourselves is actually what we should always do online.
These days more and more people are creating dummy accounts just to be able to be rude and say really bad things to other people. Some even enjoy hurting other people's feelings. Wow.
Smear campaigns anyone? Online trolls earn from writing fake news and spewing hateful words to various people. Egads, how low have we humans become?
Here in read cash/noise cash however there are those who get away with saying bad things because they can delete the rude words later on. Indeed, how can the profile of the person or the comment itself be reported if they already deleted it? A perfect example of it was what I experienced last month. It just goes to show what kind of attitude "hidden" or so-called anonymous people have online.
And so we see how censorship and the corresponding sentence for going against the rules is not really something we can always count on here and in noise.
What is fairness? What is equality? What is justice? Are these not worth fighting for? Are these not worth writing about? Unfortunately one's sense of such may be different to others.
We are all different yet the same.
We spew hateful words, we get hurt, we retaliate, we forgive, we hate again and we forget to love one another. That's the biggest problem we have.
This is why I have long realized how the golden rule sucks. Twisted followers of this saying become retaliatory when offended. Don't believe me? Observe yourselves dear readers. Hehe.
Okay I am veering off the topic. I just want to say that read cash and noise cash is not the place to write things others might consider extreme. Taboo topics must be avoided as much as possible because it might instigate hate and online fights. Remember that's not allowed on both sites.
And so I stick to environmental stuff, writing unbiased articles as much as possible. But I can't help it. You can still see my bias in those previous articles of mine. 😅 I still shared about the corporation/s and people we have to call out for their terrible behavior. There is a fine line on what can be considered unacceptable content here and in noise cash. Some people might not see it but it is there.
Even if I do self-censorship, others still post insensitive stuff without recourse. Some people just don't care. You know what they say, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." In real life we still say bad things to others and think it's alright. Tsk tsk, it is not easy to be a good person eh?
Censoring oneself is something not everyone does. That's why there are people who are rude and tactless. Locally we call them taklesa. Having delicadeza or decency is also not very easy to apply when we are angry and in pain. Well, what about those who still have bad manners even when not experiencing any kind of hardships at that moment?
For sure, it takes a lot to still be the bigger person in difficult situations.
You might say I am writing something that's double meaning here but I'm just freewriting and saying what's on my mind.
Actually I should be finishing the fourth module of my TESDA online course but here I am again... Writing an article so I have something to post here today just like some of you my dear readers. Haha. Well. Such is the life of someone earning BCH from writing here.
Since freewriting is the norm here in read cash then I might as well write more of such. I'm just going with the flow here. Sorry but I don't have enough time to do a well-researched article right now. I have 3 modules to finish until end of the month. (Hello self-imposed deadline.)
So anyway, do you also censor yourself on what you write here and in noise? What do you avoid posting on both sites or other websites?
XOXO,

I was really happy to have come across this article because self censorship is something I think about a lot as a writer. I do not think that I write controversial stuff, but sometimes I overthink things. And if I'm not comfortable about something I wrote, I either don't post it or if I don't feel good about it, I take it down.
