Research- an essential tool for knowledge (not all cartoons are for children)!
23rd of March 2022
This is written as a direct continuation to Bitcoin cash: Time spent on research! as written yesterday, which is also a direct of The random rewarder's fault! and A frustrated writer!. With time, I have found writing on based on research to be enjoyable hashtag @TheRandomRewarder. I must say that the hours of research and compilation has provided me with a lot of fun and knowledge. There is a special satisfaction attained in knowing that more knowledge has been added to your knowledge database. After all knowledge is never enough. Plus the audience exists as well- knowing that I'm providing my audience with the right information while separating myth from reality is considered an achievement on my part.
For instance, Vikings are pictured to be deadly and extremely dangerous by a majority of people. This is untrue. The majority cannot be blamed for their lack of knowledge as I used to fall in this category as well. As addressed in 5 amazing facts that are false, I quote- "Vikings didn't actually wear horns on their helmets like we think. That rumour is based on old paintings that were exaggerated to make Viking warriors look extra tough and scary".
This stereotype has also been spread hashtag Hollywood in a bid to entertain their viewers while forgetting the major influence they have on the general public. There is the case of science fiction which is generally acceptable, but once a movie states the words "based on a real life event", the audience will blindly believe anything. A very bad way of exercising their influence- it should be edutainment and not mislead-tainment (mislead and entertainment). There is a very big gap between myth and fiction, people need to be able to tell the difference. This is a gap my article attempts to fill, and has succeeded in several cases.
Perhaps this example will suffice;
As a lover of cartoons and animes, I have come across a certain number of people with the mentality that "cartoons are for children". This is a very wrong statement as cartoons are animations which are used as tools to address a wide range of topics such as politics, religion, lifestyle, war, romance, hatred, racism and may more. Just as there are cartoons addressing sensitive issues, there are also cartoons for children. In fact the popular cartoon station Disney had to separate its matured content from that which is suitable for everyone by creating Dsny junior and Dsny XD.
While Dsny Junior only features cartoons for children such as PJ mask, Puppy Dog pals and lots more, Dsny XD features matured content with violence such as Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars Resistance and many more. If you are with the mentality that cartoons are for children, here is a list of programs broadcasted by Dsny XD if you would be interested in exposing your children to violence.
If the violence portrayed in the above example isn't enough, then I'd have to present to you The Boondocks. This anime addresses the gangster life from the American perspective and racism as seen in the USA towards African Americans. I do not know if it still airs on Sony Max, but a majority of the content on this tv station is tagged 18+ with Boondocks not being exempted as it contains a lot of uncensored words. A clear indication that it is for mature viewers only and children should not be allowed to watch.
I quote- "The Boondocks gives commentary on American politics from a black perspective. The series accomplishes this by using satire and controversial statements, such as one of the opening lines in the series, "Jesus was Black, Ronald Reagan was the devil, and the government is lying about 9/11" Source
I've also proven that certain animes are not for children in the article Anime shows that kids should never watch. The animes on this list contain blood, gore and explicit scenes which you wouldn't want to expose your children to. Unless you are a parent that doesn't care. Animes like Shigurui and Mononoke are too far into the darkness and I'd rather not talk about these.
In fact there are certain cartoons that have been banned from certain countries as shown in Ten (10) Cartoons Banned in other countries. In case you missed this article, you'd probably be surprised that cartoons can be banned. Most surprising is popular cartoons such as The Simpsons, Stephen universe, Family guy and so on.
Family guy especially, has been known for so many controversial statements which I'd rather not mention as they went too far. It also contains several deleted scenes which you wouldn't want your children to see. In fact, it was banned in Russia, Malaysia India, Venezuela, South Korea, South Africa, The Philippines, Taiwan, Egypt, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Iran.
If this isn't enough to prove, there is a scene from the Family guy cartoon which I'd like to showcase so deductions can be made based on your observation.
If this isn't enough to convince you, then nothing will. As I wouldn't like to put a clip from The Boondocks cartoon.
Since children would always be interested in animes, I carefully compiled a list of the Top Ten (10) anime for children based on my opinion so parents could guide their children accordingly.
In the end, the statement "cartoons are for children" is a very embarrassing statement that shouldn't be made publicly.
My point exactly;
Apart from the fact that my articles contain informative content for the audience, there are a lot of materials on the internet from which we can learn a wide range of topics based on our interest. Not just on cartoons and anime but on more sensitive topics. I simply used cartoons and anime as an example to prove how ignorant people could be pertaining little things that should be commonly known.
It would be nice if we could spend time on research in a bid to seek knowledge, increase our exposure and expand our horizon. Due to the time spent on research and study daily, I've been able to learn a whole lot of things from self discovery to lifestyle, cryptocurrency, anime, finance, and a lot more.
The internet allows us the opportunity to explore the world while adding more knowledge to our database. It is left for us to choose how this power will be used- entertainment or education or both. Choose your poison!
