How to Be Happy with Yourself
25th of January 2022
If you're not happy being with yourself it means you're in bad company or probably have a low self-esteem. I’m not a professional on these things but I intend to show you how to be happy with yourself in only two easy steps. Let’s get into it.
Your thoughts dictate your feelings
The first thing you must understand is that your whole experience of life happens within yourself because your thoughts dictate whether you feel good or bad. You have almost no control over what happens outside of yourself, on the other hand you have complete control over what happens inside your head, but you haven't realized it and thus let the outside world decide how you feel.
The problem is that you are always reacting to everything that happens outside of yourself instead of responding in a way that would make your internal world peaceful. Your power lies in the ability to decide how you will interpret everything in your life. Whether you feel happy or sad, these are emotions that you create inside of you. If you can make yourself miserable you can definitely make yourself happy just with your thoughts regardless of the conditions of the world around you.
Consider this, two persons can interpret losing their jobs in two completely different ways the first person gets depressed because he doesn't know where he will find another comfortable job while the other person feels blessed because he now has the opportunity to become an entrepreneur.
1. Change how you talk to yourself
To become happier, the first thing you need to do is change how you talk to yourself. At some point in your life, you must have told yourself in the past that you were stupid, that you were ugly, or that you will never achieve your dreams. The thing is that we are our worst critic, and we barely praise ourselves. I bet that you will not insult a stranger on the street, so then why the hell are you doing it to yourself. Every single destructive thing that you say to yourself is basically one more obstacle that you will have to face.
let's be honest, life is difficult enough for us to get in our own way. On the other hand what would happen if you had me in front of you, and I tell you that you're young enough to accomplish your dreams and then I know that you only need to improve your mindset in order to accomplish everything you want in life? How would that make you feel? I bet you will feel great.
The great news is that you can make yourself feel good by changing how you talk to yourself. Your mind can't differentiate between what's real from what's not, so it will eventually believe whatever you repeat frequently.
If you want to be happy with yourself repeat kind and loving statements to yourself, tell yourself that you can do anything you set your mind to, tell yourself that you deserve the best kind of love, tell yourself that your potential is limitless. You can apply positive statements to every single aspect of your life like wealth, relationships, self-love, and discipline.
2. Be grateful for everything
The second thing that you can do to be happy with yourself is being grateful for everything you have in your life. Gratitude is not exclusive to the things that are good for you, you can be grateful for the misfortunes of life because they will inevitably force you to grow and get better.
Everything in life is a gift- the air you breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat, and the friends you hang out with. Recognizing each thing that makes your life better will instantly put you into a happy state. By constantly giving thanks you will strengthen your gratitude muscle and will find more things to be grateful for that you have ever imagined.
Remember that your experience of life is dictated by what you think and where you focus your attention. By focusing on the things that you are grateful for, you are voluntarily choosing to experience positive emotions that will make you feel happy with yourself without needing anything external.
Conclusion
Happiness is a fragile construct which can be altered by no one but you. Happiness comes from within, nothing in this world will make you happy unless you decide you want to be happy. Remember that your thoughts dictate your feelings, create happy thoughts within yourself, change how you talk to yourself, and be grateful for everything you have. Practice the above mentioned daily, and with time happiness will become an integral part of you!
For me, happiness is being contented on what you have. If you desire more, you will become greedy and unsatisfied that will lead you to sadness.
