How unfair can a one-sided story be?

How unfair can a one-sided story be? Have you ever been in a situation where you know you're right but they won't believe you because of what they saw in the first place? People really love to judge someone at first sight. That's what we usually do. We easily judge someone just based on what we see about them and what others tell us about them. That's the sad part of the society that we are in today. People will only make judgments about you based on what they see in you.

I ran into @Cogamedia 's article about this and it really caught my attention, as this is the most common yet underrated issue that we face every day. Especially in light of what we see on social media on a daily basis, where people portray something that is so perfect and adored by so many people. But the truth is that behind those perfect smiles and happy lives we see on social media hides a dark and cruel life. That's just exactly what Cog's article is all about One side of a story is dangerous. This is what the biased treatment of social media means. People will automatically judge someone just because they got them first.

As I was reading his article, I suddenly remembered a viral video of a teacher who received lots of hate because of how he treated his student. At first, I must admit that I was truly angry at him at first for how he treated the student, because that's not what a real teacher is. I even let out words that weren't supposed to be said. But as I dug deeper into the comments, I then noticed and read a lot of comments coming from students defending the teacher, saying how good that teacher is and how they've never seen him reacting like that because he was a great teacher to them way back in their days. Even though they were all naughty kids, the teacher would still support them and do his job as a teacher. As stated by the students in the comment sections, "He's like a father to me." The teacher would only react like that if he's already at his boiling point.

The student was the one who posted the video and put captions that made the professor look like the wrong one when he was the right one. And yes, at first, he received a lot of sympathy and support from others. But as soon as the former students of the professor saw the video, they defended the teacher, and the hate that the professor received got backfired on the student.

There are lots of things that we see on social media, but not all of those things that we see are real. We are easily duped by those simply because there are a lot of people on it. Just because the majority of people are on the other side doesn't mean you'll take their side without knowing what the real story is.

Social media is a broad platform that could take us wherever we want and could also make us believe anything, depending on what they post. Even the news today that was supposed to be the source of information throughout the world suddenly became the source of false information. With just a single move, anyone can make you a bad one.

But we know that we have control over what we see, and it also depends on the platform and group of people we're in.

Social media can easily deceive us in many different ways. It is up to us how we see it and how broad our understanding is regarding what we see on social media. I can say that 90% of all social media posts are fake and not real. One thing about the worst and cruelest parts of social media is the racism. People make fun of other people's beliefs, race, and religion, which is not good to make fun of. Ever wonder why most kids today are afraid of Muslims? It is due to the way social media portrays Muslims on television and other social media sites. That's how cruel society is, and it's all because it revolves around money.

Kaya we should always fact check. Dami talagang ganiyan sa Social Media, mga pa-victim ba.

This isn't about social media related one sided story but between friends. I experienced not being heard and I don't want that to happen to anyone else. During our senior high school years, my friend got involved in a fight. It was their circle of friends and there are actually two victims. Yung isa di kasama dun sa circle of friend na yun tas yung isa naman yung nakakatanggap ng blames kung bakit nangyari. And so, I messaged her. I asked her kung ano ba talaga nangyari and she told me her side of the story. I no longer cared if she lied to me that time kasi hindi ko na yun kasalanan, it's hers kung kung magsisinungaling siya. Ang akin lang is that people should learn how to listen to both sides of the story.

tama, hindi naman kasi magiging maayos yung gulo oh kahit ano payang conflict na yan kung sa isang side lang yung pakikinggan at paniniwalaan. Kasi each stories, pwede din naman kasing dagdagan tas pwede ding kunan kaya mas better to listen to both sides

The truth there is that the media will only show us what they want us to see but we don't know the true story about many of them. So we shouldn't just judge hearing a side first because we might be disappointed when we finally know the real truth.

this is so true. That is why we really shouldn't just give judgment to someone without knowing the whole story

This is true Langga. Not all in the social medias are true. Sometimes we get false information. The worst one is we believe it. They spread fake news to the people, to the readers, the one who saw their post.

A lesson that we need to be extra careful. We need to be observer. Be sure that it is real. Don't let yourself to throw words if you haven't any confirmation that the information is correct.

trueeee we're old already to figure out kung ano yung totoo, but the sad thing is that people nowadays ang bilis maniwala sa fake news o kahit sa anong pino post sa social media kahit memes lang paniniwalaan na

Exactly, we must not just believe on one sided. Sometimes the real story was being manipulated as you said. Social media got the strong influence and somehow fake becomes real in the face of screen.

It's always better to hear hings from both sides before deciding who is right or wrong, or we may end up siding with the wrong side. Lesson learnt.
