Why Do We Have to Go Through Failures?
"It's not about the destination, it's the journey." I hear this oftentimes whenever a person is interviewed about the process of achieving success and going through failures. They talk about how the journey went through towards where they are now.
People are too quick to say things to anyone without knowing the whole story. They only see the success stories but never understood the process of pain they went through. The tip of an iceberg where unsaid thoughts and sufferings were the constant companions during those hard times.
I firmly believe that it is impossible to live life without failing on something. There must be something in our lives that we are not good at. Unless you have always lived on the expectations to yourself that you shouldn't fail which proves you of not living your life well.
True enough, people only see a portion of your life, and yet they act like they know everything about you. They discredit the efforts and energy you put through the success and invalidate your decisions.
However, regardless of whatever people will say to you about your success or failures, it's the journey you went through that helped you grow as a person. Sometimes, we ask ourselves "why do we have to go through failures?". Am I a bad person? Do I deserve all of these?
Growing up, I have learned how my failures became a blessing in disguise to my life. I have realized how crucial they were to build the character I possess now. Here are some of the insights:
Experience
Failures have taught me such things that I wouldn't forget for the rest of my life. They registered into my core memory that I keep reminding myself whenever I feel down. I gotta take credit myself for going through those experiences because I have learned something that I would cherish in my whole existence.
Experience is something that you can't trade with anything because you were in the situation and you know how it felt when you were there.
Growth
I have always believed that success in life is the most important lesson that we should value. I realized that it's not, because it is through our failures that we learn a lot of things. Taking from that perspective, it helps us grow as a person.
These failures led us to where we are now. It redirects us to something we are made to do and from there, we carry the learnings we had in our previous experiences and apply it to a new beginning.
It gives us the luxury to reflect and mature with how decisions should be made. We slowly understand how our lives should be lived. Let's take it on a different level of perspective and that's how you grow as a person.
Tenacity/Resilience
All through my life, I have never considered myself as tenacious. Whenever problems or challenges arise, I tend to lose focus immediately. I can say that the problems I have dealt with were not that huge compared to you who's reading now.
I have lived a safe life. I didn't go through the hardest times. But there's one situation that tested my character and I failed to be tenacious. I easily gave up. That taught me how to fight no matter what happens. It helped me realize that everything is not under my control.
How did I recover from my failures?
I would be lying if I accepted everything right away. Of course, I went through the regret stage. I let myself get drowned with what-ifs, things I should or shouldn't have done. It took me a while to get over the regret living in my heart.
Then one day, I just realized that there's no point in dwelling on the past. Looking back brings us lots of lessons to carry so that in the future, we know how to deal with those situations already.
I learned to just accept everything and moved forward. That brought me inner peace and I think we all deserve that.
So if you have reached this point reading, do yourself a favor and let go of that baggage in the past. Carry the learnings you have with you on those failures. Be strong!
Thanks for reading.
Keep safe everyone!
Yeah we always should treat experiences as the best teacher
